Jarvis Moss was born in Denton, Texas in 1984. He went to Billy Ryan High School in Denton. During his time there, he was a key player for the Ryan Raiders football team. He helped them win their first Texas Class 4A state championship. In 2003, he played in the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He was also recognized as a high school All-American by Parade magazine.
College Football Career
Moss received a sports scholarship to attend the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He played for the Florida Gators football team from 2003 to 2006. His coaches were Ron Zook and Urban Meyer.
Memorable Moments at Florida
One of Moss's most memorable moments happened in 2006. This was during the Gators' game against the South Carolina Gamecocks. In the fourth quarter, Moss blocked two very important kicks. The first block stopped a point after touchdown (PAT) attempt by the Gamecocks. This kept South Carolina's lead at 16–10.
His second block was even more dramatic. With only eight seconds left, he blocked a field goal attempt. This kick would have won the game for South Carolina. Instead, the Gators secured a close 17–16 victory. After the 2006 season, Pro Football Weekly named him a first-team All-American.
After the Gators won the 2007 BCS National Championship Game, Moss decided to enter the 2007 NFL Draft.

Time with the Denver Broncos
The Denver Broncos traded up in the draft to pick Moss. They selected him as the 17th overall pick in the first round. During the 2007 season, Moss played in six games for the Broncos. He made 12 tackles and had 1 sack. Unfortunately, he broke his shin during practice on November 1, 2007. This injury ended his season early.
In the 2008 season, Moss played in 12 games. He recorded 12 tackles and 2.5 sacks. The Broncos' new defensive coordinator, Mike Nolan, moved Moss to outside linebacker. Moss had previously played his entire NFL career as a defensive end.
In 2009, Moss considered retiring because he found it hard to adjust to the new defensive plans. However, he returned to practice and made the Broncos' 53-man roster. This was after a good pre-season performance. He had three tackles, one sack, and one forced fumble. When All-Pro player Elvis Dumervil got injured, Moss became the top choice to start as the outside linebacker. On November 17, 2010, the Denver Broncos released Moss.
Playing for the Oakland Raiders
On November 23, 2010, the Oakland Raiders signed Jarvis Moss. He joined them to play defensive end, taking the place of the injured Trevor Scott. The Raiders re-signed Moss to a one-year contract on July 26, 2011. He played in thirteen games during the 2011 season. Most of these games were as a reserve player. After the season, his contract ended, and he became a free agent.
