Early Football Days
Jason Ankrah started his football journey at Quince Orchard High School in Gaithersburg, Maryland. He played for the Cougars team.
In his senior year, he made 55 tackles and seven sacks. His team won ten games and reached the regional final. He was also chosen as a top player for the entire state that year.
During his junior year, Jason had 50 tackles and five sacks. His team had a perfect season, winning all 14 games. They even won the state championship!
College Football Career
After high school, Jason Ankrah played college football for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He was part of the team from 2010 to 2013. In 2009, he was "redshirted," which means he practiced with the team but didn't play in games. This allowed him to gain experience without using up a year of his playing eligibility.
Professional Football Journey
Playing in the NFL
Jason Ankrah was not chosen in the 2014 NFL draft. However, the Houston Texans signed him on May 16, 2014. He made his first NFL appearance on September 14, 2014, playing against the Oakland Raiders. In that game, he recorded one tackle. He stayed with the Texans until August 31, 2015.
Later, on September 9, 2015, Jason joined the Tennessee Titans. He was signed to their practice squad, which is a group of players who train with the team but are not on the main roster.
Playing in the CFL
On January 26, 2017, Jason Ankrah signed with the Ottawa Redblacks. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He played as a defensive lineman for them. Jason played in two games during the 2017 season. He was released by the Redblacks on July 3, 2017.
Coaching Football
After his playing career, Jason Ankrah became a football coach. In 2019, he became the head coach for Central High School in Schuyler, Nebraska.
