Professional Football Career

Jason Campbell was chosen in the first round of the 2005 NFL draft. The Washington Redskins picked him as the 25th player overall. They traded up in the draft to get him. He was the third quarterback chosen in that draft.

Time with the Washington Redskins

Campbell did not play in his first year, 2005. He sat on the bench behind other quarterbacks. On November 13, 2006, he became the Redskins' starting quarterback. His first start was on November 19, 2006. Even though his team lost, people praised his calm playing style.

On November 26, 2006, Campbell got his first professional win. He led the Redskins to a 17–13 victory. He threw a 66-yard touchdown pass to Chris Cooley.

In 2007, Campbell had a knee injury during a preseason game. Later that year, he dislocated his left knee during a game. He did not need surgery but missed the rest of the season.

In 2008, the Redskins started the season with a good record of 6 wins and 2 losses. Some people thought Campbell was becoming one of the best quarterbacks. However, the team then lost many games and finished the season 8–8.

In 2009, Campbell and the Redskins had a tough season, finishing with a 4–12 record. This was one of the worst records in the team's history.

Playing for the Oakland Raiders

After the Redskins got a new quarterback, Jason Campbell was traded to the Oakland Raiders on April 24, 2010. He also signed a contract extension with the Raiders. The Raiders' owner, Al Davis, even compared Campbell to a famous former Raiders quarterback, Jim Plunkett.

Campbell's start with the Raiders was a bit slow. In his first two games, his performance was not as strong. He was even benched in favor of his backup, Bruce Gradkowski, in one game.

However, Campbell got another chance when Gradkowski got injured. In a game against the San Diego Chargers, Campbell played much better. He helped the Raiders win 35–27, ending a long losing streak against the Chargers.

He became the starter again and led the Raiders to a huge 59–14 win against the Denver Broncos. This was a new record for points scored by the Raiders. Campbell threw two touchdown passes in that game.

Even though Campbell was benched for some games, the Raiders lost all the games he didn't play in. The team finished the 2010 season with an 8–8 record. Campbell had his second-highest quarterback rating that season.

Short Time with the Chicago Bears

Campbell signed with the Chicago Bears on March 13, 2012. He was a backup to Jay Cutler. In one game, he replaced Cutler, who had a concussion. Campbell played well, completing many passes. He later started a game against the San Francisco 49ers. He threw a touchdown pass but also had some interceptions.

With the Cleveland Browns
