Professional Wrestling Career
Joining WWE
Early Days (2011–2015)
A WWE scout named Gerald Brisco noticed Nathan Everhart in college. Nathan was invited to a WWE tryout in 2010. He was offered a contract but waited until he finished his college degree. In July 2011, he signed with WWE. He was sent to their training area, Florida Championship Wrestling (FCW). There, he started using the ring name Jason Jordan.
His first wrestling match was on September 30, 2011. He teamed with Abraham Washington but lost. He appeared on FCW TV in November 2011. Jordan continued to wrestle in FCW until it became NXT in 2012. Before that, he won the FCW Florida Tag Team Championship with CJ Parker in July 2012.
On June 27, 2012, Jordan made his NXT debut, losing to Jinder Mahal. He wrestled occasionally in NXT during 2012 and 2013. In April 2014, he formed a tag team with Tye Dillinger. However, they didn't have much success and broke up in February 2015.
American Alpha (2015–2017)
In May 2015, Jordan started a story with Chad Gable. Gable wanted to form a tag team, but Jordan said no a couple of times. On July 15, 2015, Jordan finally agreed to team with Gable. They won their first match together.
On September 2, 2015, Jordan and Gable, now called American Alpha, entered the Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament. They won their first round match. They made it to the semi-finals at NXT TakeOver: Respect. Even though they lost, fans started to cheer for them because they showed great fighting spirit.
On January 27, 2016, American Alpha defeated Blake and Murphy. On March 16, they became the top contenders for the NXT Tag Team Championship. At NXT TakeOver: Dallas, American Alpha defeated The Revival to win the NXT Tag Team Championship! Their championship reign lasted 68 days. At NXT TakeOver: The End on June 8, they lost the titles back to The Revival. After the match, they were attacked by a new team, the Authors of Pain. American Alpha's last NXT match was on July 20, 2016, where they lost to the Authors of Pain.
On July 19, 2016, Jordan and Gable were moved to the SmackDown brand as part of the 2016 WWE draft. They debuted on SmackDown Live on August 2, defeating The Vaudevillains. At the SummerSlam pre-show, American Alpha was part of a big 12-man tag team match, which their team won.
In a tournament for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, American Alpha defeated Breezango. However, kayfabe (in the storyline), Gable's knee was injured by The Usos, so American Alpha couldn't compete in the finals. On December 27, 2016, American Alpha won the SmackDown Tag Team Championship in a four-team match. They held the titles for 84 days before losing them to The Usos on March 21, 2017. Jordan made his WrestleMania debut at WrestleMania 33 in a battle royal. After this, American Alpha quietly split up.
Storyline with Kurt Angle (2017–2018)
On July 17, 2017, on Raw, it was revealed that Jordan was the kayfabe (storyline) son of Raw General Manager Kurt Angle. This meant Jordan moved to Raw, and American Alpha officially ended. In his first match on Raw, Jordan defeated Curt Hawkins.
Jordan then started a rivalry with Intercontinental Champion The Miz. At SummerSlam, Jordan and The Hardy Boyz lost to The Miz and his team. On September 18, Jordan won a match to become the number one challenger for The Miz's Intercontinental Championship. At No Mercy on September 24, Jordan did not win the title.
Jordan then had a rivalry with Elias. Jordan would interrupt Elias's songs by throwing vegetables at him. This led to a match at TLC: Tables, Ladders & Chairs, where Jordan defeated Elias. On November 6, Jordan won another match against Elias, ending their rivalry.
Jordan was supposed to be part of Team Raw at Survivor Series. However, on November 13, he was injured by Bray Wyatt (in the storyline). He was replaced by Triple H. In December, Jordan started teaming with Seth Rollins, whose partner Dean Ambrose was injured. On December 25, Jordan and Rollins defeated Cesaro and Sheamus to win the Raw Tag Team Championship. This made Jordan the first person in WWE to hold the Raw, SmackDown, and NXT Tag Team Championships.
At Royal Rumble on January 28, 2018, Jordan and Rollins lost the titles back to Cesaro and Sheamus. Their reign lasted 34 days. This was Jordan's last televised match. In the storyline, Jordan's injury made it hard for him to compete, causing problems between him and Rollins. In real life, Jordan had a serious back injury.
Career-Ending Injury and Producer Role (2018–Present)
On February 5, 2018, Jordan told Rollins he couldn't wrestle that night. Later, Kurt Angle sent Jordan home to write him off TV. The next day, WWE announced that Jordan had successful surgery for a neck injury. It was reported he would be out of action for over a year. The storyline with Kurt Angle was supposed to end at WrestleMania 34 with a match between them, but Jordan's injury prevented it.
After his injury, Jordan started working as a producer for WWE. Producers help plan matches and segments. Jordan appeared on SmackDown on May 29, 2020, his first TV appearance in over two years. In April 2021, Jordan was promoted to lead producer, overseeing all other producers at TV tapings. On December 9, 2022, Jordan appeared on SmackDown during a birthday celebration for his storyline father, Kurt Angle.
