Jason Kravits (born May 28, 1967) is a talented American actor. He is well-known for his roles in many TV shows and movies, including his part as A.D.A. Richard Bay on the TV show The Practice.

Early Life and Learning
Jason Kravits was born on May 28, 1967, in Passaic, New Jersey. When he was eight years old, his family moved to Rockville, Maryland. He went to Colonel Zadok A. Magruder High School there. Later, he studied at the University of Maryland, College Park. In 1986, he helped start the university's very first improv group, called Erasable Inc. Improv groups create scenes and stories on the spot, without a script!
Jason's Acting Journey
Early Acting Career in Washington, D.C.
Jason started acting professionally when he was still in middle school, in 1980. His first role was Lolo Knopke in the PBS TV show Powerhouse. After college, Jason worked in theater in Washington, D.C. He performed in plays at places like the Shakespeare Theater. He was even nominated for two Helen Hayes Awards, which are special awards for theater performances in the D.C. area. While in D.C., he also appeared in the movie Major League II and the TV show Homicide: Life on the Street.
Moving to New York City
In 1995, Jason moved to New York City. There, he joined a group of writers and performers. He and another performer, Joel Hurt Jones, created a two-person musical comedy show called “An Evening with Kravits and Jones.” They performed this show at the famous Improv Comedy Club in Los Angeles. In 1999, they won an award for Best Sketch Show at the HBO Comedy Festival in Aspen, Colorado.
Hollywood Roles in Los Angeles
In 1999, Jason moved to Los Angeles to work more in TV and movies. He got a guest role on the ABC TV show The Practice as A.D.A. Richard Bay. A.D.A. stands for Assistant District Attorney, which is a lawyer who works for the government. His character became a regular part of the show. After a while, his character left the series.
Jason also appeared in many other popular TV shows like Gilmore Girls, Everybody Loves Raymond, Curb Your Enthusiasm, and the very last episode of Friends. He was also a regular guest on game shows like Hollywood Squares and To Tell the Truth.
Back to New York and Broadway
In 2003, Jason moved back to New York City. That year, he performed on Broadway for the first time in a comedy play called Sly Fox. Broadway is known for its big, famous theater shows. In 2006, he was in the musical The Drowsy Chaperone, which won a special award called a Tony Award. He even acted alongside his brother, Garth Kravits, in that show!
In 2011, Jason was part of Relatively Speaking. This show was made up of three short plays by different writers.
"Off the Top" and Voice Acting
In 2015, Jason created his own unique show called “Off the Top.” In this show, he makes up songs and music on the spot, based on ideas from the audience! It's a type of performance called a cabaret. He has performed “Off the Top” in many places around the world, including the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. In 2017, his show won an award for Best Comedy.
Jason also kept acting in TV shows and movies. He appeared in popular shows like The Big Bang Theory, Young Sheldon, and B Positive. He also used his voice to play characters like Michael Bloomberg in the animated show Our Cartoon President.
He has also made many popular funny videos online. These include a song inspired by the musical Hamilton about a president named William Henry Harrison. He also made an animated parody of The Grinch. In 2024, he created a song about "The Project 2025," which was an animated short video like Schoolhouse Rock! that explained a big plan from a group called The Heritage Foundation.
