Jeanne Beker (born March 19, 1952) is a well-known Canadian television personality, fashion editor, and author. She is most famous for hosting FashionTelevision for many years, where she shared the latest trends and news from the world of style.

Her Family and Early Life
Jeanne Beker was born in Toronto, Ontario. Her parents, Joseph and Bronia Beker, were Jewish people who came to Canada from Europe. They had faced many difficulties before moving to Canada. Jeanne has two daughters.
Jeanne went to high school at William Lyon Mackenzie Collegiate Institute. She started her career as an actor, appearing in a TV show called Toby in 1968. She later studied theatre at York University and even went to Paris to learn mime. When she returned to Canada, she worked for CBC Radio as a reporter in St. John's.
A Career in Journalism
In 1978, Jeanne moved back to Toronto. She started creating daily lifestyle and entertainment stories for a radio station called 1050 CHUM.
A year later, in 1979, she helped launch a new music show called The NewMusic on Citytv. She was a co-host and also reported on entertainment for CityPulse. She even hosted short news segments about music on MuchMusic when it first started. Later, she hosted MovieTelevision and produced parts of Entertainment Tonight.
In 1995, Jeanne created @Fashion, which was one of the very first fashion websites on the internet!
Hosting FashionTelevision
From 1985 to 2012, Jeanne Beker hosted FashionTelevision. This is the role she is most known for. She hosted the show and helped produce many of its segments for 27 years. In 2012, she announced that the show was ending. Many people in the fashion world praised her work, saying she reported on fashion shows with great passion.
After FashionTelevision, Jeanne continued to work in media. From 2012 to 2014, she hosted fashion and entertainment segments for CTV News, Canada AM, and The Marilyn Denis Show. She also wrote articles about fashion and style for the Toronto Star and other publications.
Today, Jeanne Beker writes a column for The Globe and Mail newspaper.
Fashion Business Ventures
Jeanne Beker has also been involved in the fashion business. From 2001 to 2002, she had her own fashion lines. These were called "Jeanne Beker" for Eaton's and "Inside Out by Jeanne Beker" with Sears Canada.
In 2010, she launched a clothing line called 'Edit by Jeanne Beker' at The Bay. For this line, she chooses a special collection of designer clothes for each season.
She also released a line of shoes with The Shoe Company in 2013. In the same year, she launched an eyewear collection through FYSH UK.
In 2014, Jeanne started a special collection of clothing, jewelry, and eyewear with The Shopping Channel. In 2015, she began hosting a weekly live TV show called Style Matters with Jeanne Beker on The Shopping Channel. On this show, she interviews people and talks about fashion trends.

Other Projects and Appearances
From 2003 to 2009, Jeanne Beker was the main editor for FQ Magazine and SIR. These were fashion magazines published in Toronto. A TV series called Cover Stories followed Jeanne and her team as they created each issue of FQ.
In 2008, Jeanne got an exclusive interview with the famous designer Valentino before he announced his retirement. This interview was later made into a special TV show.
In 2010, Jeanne helped cover the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver for CTV. She even carried the Olympic flame during the Torch Relay!
Jeanne Beker has also been a judge on the Canadian reality TV show Canada's Next Top Model. She appeared on the show for three seasons.
Awards and Recognition
Jeanne Beker has received many awards for her work and her contributions to charity. She was an honorary chair for Toronto's annual Fashion Cares event, which raised money for HIV/AIDS research. She has also supported many other charitable groups.
In 2006, she received the "Crystal" lifetime achievement award from Women in Film and Television. She also won the Vantage Women of Originality Award and the Variety Club Diamond Award.
In 2013, the Canadian Academy of Cinema and Television gave her a Special Academy Achievement Award for her amazing contributions to Canadian TV.
In December 2013, Jeanne Beker was named a member of the Order of Canada. This is one of the highest honors a Canadian citizen can receive.
