Jeffree Star (born Jeffrey Lynn Steininger Jr., November 15, 1985) is an American makeup artist, internet star, and singer-songwriter. He is famous for founding and owning his own makeup company, Jeffree Star Cosmetics.
In 2009, Jeffree released his first album, Beauty Killer. It included popular songs like "Lollipop Luxury". He went on many world tours to share his music. In 2010, he signed with a record label called Konlive. However, he left the music business by 2013 because of problems the label's owner faced. In 2024, Jeffree announced he would return to music. He planned to re-release his Beauty Killer album with three new songs. In November 2014, Jeffree Star started his makeup company. By 2018, Forbes magazine reported that he earned $18 million from his YouTube videos alone. This made him the fifth-highest-paid YouTuber that year.

Jeffree Lynn Steininger Jr. was born in Los Angeles County, California, on November 15, 1985. He grew up in Orange County, California. He shared that he started playing with his mother's makeup when he was a child. He convinced her to let him wear it to school when he was in junior high.
Jeffree went to Pacifica High School in Garden Grove, California. He graduated in 2002. After high school, he legally changed his name to Jeffree Star. He then moved to Los Angeles. There, he worked various jobs in makeup, modeling, and music to support himself. He remembers using a fake ID to go to Hollywood clubs on weekends. This is where famous people would hire him as their personal makeup artist.

MySpace Fame
Jeffree Star used MySpace to help his music and fashion design careers. He used MySpace like a blog. He shared his personal life and talked about topics like self-image, confidence, fame, and beauty. Because he used many websites, Jeffree already had a large fan base. These fans joined him on MySpace, giving his profile many friends from the start. His MySpace photos often received over 50,000 comments. He also became known as one of the most popular independent artists. He was often ranked among the top on MySpace every day.
Music Career Highlights
Jeffree's career as an electronica and pop singer began when he became friends with Peaches' drummer, Samantha Maloney. She encouraged him to make music. In 2005, he was featured on the Hollywood Undead song Turn Off The Lights. In the summer of 2007, he was part of the True Colors Tour 2007. This tour visited 15 cities in the United States and Canada. The tour was sponsored by the LGBT Logo channel. It started on June 8, 2007, to celebrate Pride month.
Jeffree released his first and only studio album, Beauty Killer, in 2009. The album reached number seven on the US Billboard Top Electronic Albums chart. It included songs like "Lollipop Luxury" which featured Nicki Minaj. He went on several world tours to promote his music. In 2010, he signed with Konlive. He planned to release a second album. However, it was never released. Jeffree suddenly left the music industry in 2013 for reasons that were not fully clear.

On September 15, 2024, Jeffree announced a 15-Year Anniversary release of his 2009 album Beauty Killer. He also released a mini-eyeshadow palette with the same name. Jeffree Star Cosmetics Brand
In 2014, Jeffree Star started his online makeup brand, Jeffree Star Cosmetics. In a five-part video series by Shane Dawson, Jeffree explained that ending his music career left him almost broke. He used his last savings to start his makeup brand. Jeffree began promoting his brand through videos on YouTube. This helped his YouTube channel become very successful. As of December 2023, his channel had 15.8 million subscribers and over 2.5 billion views. Bustle magazine described Jeffree as "a musician and former MySpace celebrity who became famous again in the YouTube makeup tutorial world."
His first makeup product was a collection of velour liquid lipsticks. After that, he released highlighter palettes, lip scrubs, eyeshadow palettes, clothing, and accessories. These accessories included mirrors and makeup bags. The first store on the East Coast to sell his makeup line was a Morphe Cosmetics store. It opened at the Westfield Garden State Plaza in Paramus, New Jersey on August 11, 2018. Since then, Jeffree has launched several popular collections, such as the "Blue Blood" eyeshadow palette.
Personal Life
Jeffree Star was in a relationship with Nathan Schwandt from 2015 until January 2020. As of December 2020, Jeffree lives in Casper, Wyoming.
