Jenny Victoria Funnell (born May 20, 1963) is a British actress. She is famous for playing the character Sandy in the British TV show As Time Goes By. This popular sitcom aired from 1992 to 2005.

Jenny Funnell's Early Life
Jenny Funnell was born in Kenya. When she was four years old, her family moved to the United Kingdom. She later studied acting at the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art.
While still a student, Jenny began working as a voice actress for radio plays. In 1984, she won a special award for her radio work. It was called the Carleton Hobbs BBC Radio Drama Award.
Jenny Funnell's Acting Career
Jenny Funnell started her TV career in the 1980s. Her first roles included the British soap opera Brookside (1985). She also appeared in the police series Bergerac (1988). In 1990, she was in an episode of Agatha Christie's Poirot called "Peril at End House."
Comedy Roles
Jenny soon began taking on comedy parts. She appeared in the comedy-drama Boon in 1989. She also had a role in the TV movie Norbert Smith: A Life.
Other comedy roles included a guest spot in the newsroom sitcom Drop the Dead Donkey (1994). She also acted in the romantic comedy Love Soup (2005).
As Time Goes By
From 1992 to 2005, Jenny Funnell played a main role in the BBC sitcom As Time Goes By. She appeared in 58 episodes as 'Sandy'. In the show, she acted alongside famous stars like Judi Dench and Geoffrey Palmer. The series ran for nine seasons on BBC One.
Later TV Appearances
After As Time Goes By, Jenny made guest appearances in other TV shows. She was in the ITV hospital drama The Royal (2003). She also played different characters in the BBC medical drama Doctors in 2002 and 2004. In 2006, she appeared in the ITV police series The Bill.
Voice Acting in Video Games
Since 2009, Jenny Funnell has lent her voice to many characters in popular video games. She has voiced nine different characters in the Dark Souls and Bloodborne series by FromSoftware.
Stage Performances
Jenny Funnell has also performed in many plays. In April 2014, she was in Sense and Sensibility at the Watermill Theatre. She also acted in What the Butler Saw in September 2015.
In 2019, she toured the UK in the play A Murder Is Announced. Jenny was also part of the first cast of Michael Grandage's Hamlet in London's West End. This play starred Jude Law as Hamlet. The show opened in 2009 at the Donmar Warehouse. It then traveled to Denmark, performing at Kronborg Castle. This castle inspired Shakespeare's fictional Elsinore. Finally, the play moved to Broadway in New York City in August 2009.
