Jeremy Hill, born on October 20, 1992, is a former American professional football player. He was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football for the LSU Tigers. The Cincinnati Bengals picked him in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft.
He played his first four seasons with the Bengals. He had a great first year and was a main player for the next three years. In 2015, he tied for the most touchdowns scored by running. He missed much of the 2017 season because of an injury. In 2018, he joined the New England Patriots and won Super Bowl LIII with them. He missed almost all of that season due to another injury. After a year away, Hill signed with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020 but was released soon after. He tried to return to football in the XFL in 2022. Jeremy Hill officially retired from football in 2023.

Early Life and High School Football
Jeremy Hill grew up in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He went to Redemptorist High School. There, he was a talented athlete in three sports: football, baseball, and track. In football, Hill was an All-American running back. He played alongside La'el Collins, who also became an LSU offensive lineman. In his senior year of 2010, Hill ran for 2,260 yards. He also scored 36 touchdowns. Experts saw him as a top running back prospect for college.
College Football Career at LSU

Jeremy Hill went to Louisiana State University (LSU). He played for the LSU Tigers football team in 2012 and 2013.
2012 Season Highlights
In 2012, as a freshman, Hill quickly became an important player. He helped LSU have a strong rushing attack. On September 15, he scored his first two college touchdowns against Idaho. On October 13, he ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns against South Carolina. He continued to play well, gaining over 100 yards in several games. This included a game against Alabama. In the 2012 Chick-fil-A Bowl, he ran for 124 yards and two touchdowns. For the 2012 season, Hill had 755 rushing yards and 12 touchdowns.
2013 Season Highlights
As a sophomore in 2013, Hill had an amazing season. He was a key part of LSU's strong running game. On September 21, he ran for a career-high 184 yards and three touchdowns against Auburn. He also had big games against Florida and Furman. In his last regular season game, he ran for 145 yards against Arkansas. On January 1, 2014, he had 216 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the 2014 Outback Bowl. He was named the MVP of that bowl game. In 2013, Hill gained 1,401 rushing yards and scored 16 touchdowns. He was chosen for the first-team All-SEC.

Cincinnati Bengals Years
The Cincinnati Bengals chose Jeremy Hill in the second round of the 2014 NFL draft. He was the 55th player picked overall. He signed a four-year contract with the Bengals.
2014 Rookie Season
Hill started his first season as a backup running back. In his first game, he ran for 19 yards. The next week, he scored his first NFL touchdown. On November 2, he started his first game and ran for 154 yards and two touchdowns. He had several more games with over 100 rushing yards. This included a career-long 85-yard touchdown run against the Denver Broncos.
Hill finished his rookie year with 1,124 rushing yards and nine touchdowns. He was the first Bengals rookie since 1997 to run for over 1,000 yards. His rushing yards were the most among all rookies that year. He was named to the All-Rookie Team. In his first playoff game, he scored the Bengals' only touchdown.
2015 Season
Hill began his second season as the Bengals' main running back. In the first game, he scored two touchdowns. On October 4, 2015, he scored a career-high three touchdowns against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also caught his first career touchdown pass that season. Hill finished the 2015 season with 794 rushing yards. He tied for the most rushing touchdowns in the NFL with 11.
2016 Season
In Week 3 of 2016, Hill scored two touchdowns against the Broncos. This was his seventh game with multiple rushing touchdowns. On October 23, he had a career-high 168 rushing yards and a touchdown against the Browns. His touchdown was a long 74-yard run. Hill finished the 2016 season with 839 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.
2017 Season
Hill started the 2017 season as the Bengals' lead running back. However, rookie Joe Mixon began to get more playing time. Hill was placed on injured reserve in November 2017 due to an ankle injury. This ended his season early. He finished with 116 rushing yards.
New England Patriots and Super Bowl Win
On March 17, 2018, Hill signed a one-year contract with the New England Patriots. He earned a spot as the third running back on the team. In Week 1, he suffered a serious knee injury. He was diagnosed with a torn ACL and missed the rest of the season. Even though he was injured, the Patriots went on to win Super Bowl LIII. They defeated the Los Angeles Rams 13–3.
Later Career and Retirement
Hill signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on August 3, 2020. However, he was released just two days later. In 2021, Hill started working as a sports broadcaster. He left that job in November 2022 to try and make a comeback in the XFL. On May 23, 2023, Jeremy Hill announced his retirement from football. He said his 2018 knee injury was a main reason for his decision.
