Music Career
From 1992 to 1997, Jewell sang on many albums for artists at Death Row Records. These artists included Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, and 2Pac. She also sang on movie soundtracks made by the record label.
Her most successful solo song was "Woman to Woman" in 1994. This song was a cover of an older song by Shirley Brown. It reached number 72 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. It also reached number 16 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart, which lists popular R&B and hip-hop songs.
Around 1998 and 1999, Jewell and many other artists left Death Row Records. This happened because the record label had some problems. After this, her singing career became less active in the 2000s.
In October 2011, Jewell wrote a book about her life called My Blood My Sweat My Tears. She also released music that went along with the book.
Later Life and Passing
In 2019, Jewell had a serious health scare. She was hospitalized after collapsing while shopping. The exact cause was not shared publicly.
In an interview in October 2021, she shared that she was facing serious health challenges. She worked hard to release her final album, Love + Pain = Musik, during this time. In March 2022, she was hospitalized twice for a lung illness. She received medical care to remove fluid from her body. Jewell passed away on May 6, 2022, at the age of 53.
