Jiaozuo's Long History
People have lived in the Jiaozuo area for a very long time. Human groups were here over 8,000 years ago. This was during a time when families were often led by mothers.
Over many centuries, the area around Jiaozuo was part of different kingdoms and regions in China. It was known by various names. For example, during the Xia dynasty, it was called Qinhuai Land. Later, it was part of different counties and prefectures.
In 1910, the government of the Qing dynasty created Jiaozuo Town. This was a significant step for the area.
Jiaozuo City was officially established on September 8, 1945. It became a city under the direct leadership of Henan Province in 1956. Over the years, its borders and how it was governed changed several times.
By 2010, a new area called Jiaozuo New District was set up. It was later renamed the Jiaozuo Urban-rural Integration Demonstration Zone. Today, Jiaozuo City includes two county-level cities, four counties, and four districts.
Jiaozuo's Weather
