James Francis Hardy (born April 24, 1923 – died August 16, 2019) was an American football player. He was a quarterback who played in the National Football League (NFL). Jim Hardy was born in Los Angeles, California.

Playing Football in School
Jim Hardy started his football journey in high school. He played for Fairfax High School in Los Angeles.
College Football Success
After high school, Jim went on to play college football for the USC Trojans. He was a star player there. In 1945, he was named the most valuable player (MVP) of the 1945 Rose Bowl game. His team, USC, won that game 25-0 against the Tennessee Volunteers.
Playing in the NFL
Jim Hardy was chosen early in the 1945 NFL Draft. The Washington Redskins picked him as the eighth player overall. He played in the NFL from 1946 to 1952.

Hardy played for a few different teams during his NFL career:
- The Los Angeles Rams from 1946 to 1948.
- The Chicago Cardinals from 1949 to 1951.

Jim Hardy is also remembered for a unique NFL record. On September 24, 1950, he threw eight interceptions in one game. This means the opposing team caught eight of his passes. This happened in a game where his team lost 45-7 to the Philadelphia Eagles.

After his football career, Jim Hardy stayed involved in sports. He became the general manager of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. This is a famous stadium where many sports events are held. Before he passed away, Jim Hardy was the oldest living member of the very first Los Angeles Rams team from 1946.
