Jiří Jarošík (born 27 October 1977) is a football manager and former player from the Czech Republic. He used to play as a defender or midfielder. Today, he is the manager of a team called Shakhter Karagandy in Kazakhstan.
Jarošík had a very successful playing career. He won many league titles in different countries. He won six league titles with Sparta Prague in his home country. He also won the Russian Premier League with CSKA Moscow. Later, he won the Premier League with Chelsea in England. He also won the Scottish Premier League with Celtic in Scotland.
After playing for many years, Jarošík started his coaching career in 2020. He has managed teams in the Czech Republic, Slovenia, and Russia.

Playing Career Highlights
Starting in the Czech Republic
Jiří Jarošík was born in Ústí nad Labem, which was then part of Czechoslovakia. He began his football journey with Sparta Prague. This is a famous club in his home country.
He spent two years on loan at Slovan Liberec. After that, he became a key player for Sparta Prague. His great performances caught the eye of CSKA Moscow. They bought him in 2003 for about $3.5 million, which was a record fee in Russia at the time.
In 2004, Jarošík scored an important goal for CSKA Moscow. It was the winning goal against Rangers in a UEFA Champions League qualifying match. This helped his team move forward in the competition.
Time at Chelsea
On 6 January 2005, Jarošík joined Premier League club Chelsea. The transfer fee was around £3 million. He played his first game for Chelsea just two days later. It was an FA Cup match against Scunthorpe United.
He also played in the League Cup final on 27 February. Chelsea won that game 3-2 against Liverpool. Chelsea also won the Premier League title that season. Jarošík played in 14 league games, which was enough to earn him a championship medal.
During his time at Chelsea, his manager José Mourinho once sent him onto the field with a handwritten note for another player. This was a unique way to give instructions during a game.
Loan to Birmingham City
On 22 August 2005, Jarošík was loaned to Birmingham City. This was another team in the Premier League. He needed more playing time, and Birmingham City offered him that chance.
His manager, Steve Bruce, said Jarošík was a strong and flexible player. He made his debut the next day. On 27 August, he scored his first goal for Birmingham City. It was in a 3-2 win against West Bromwich Albion.
In April 2006, Jarošík scored the only goal in a game against Bolton Wanderers. This important goal helped Birmingham City move out of the relegation zone. After the season, he returned to Chelsea, as Birmingham City was relegated to a lower league.
Moving to Celtic
On 19 June 2006, Jarošík joined Scottish Premier League champions Celtic. He signed a three-year contract. He scored in his very first game for Celtic, a 4-1 win against Kilmarnock.
Even though there was strong competition for midfield spots, Jarošík made important contributions. He helped Celtic in the UEFA Champions League. He won free kicks that led to goals against Manchester United. These goals helped Celtic reach the knockout stage.
On 6 December 2006, he scored a goal in a Champions League game against Copenhagen. On 14 January 2007, he scored the winning goal against Hearts. Celtic won the league title in his first season. This meant he had won league medals in four different countries: Czech Republic, Russia, England, and Scotland.
Jarošík stayed with Celtic for the 2007–08 season. He continued to play in important Champions League matches. On 28 November, he scored an equalizer against Shakhtar Donetsk.
Later Career Clubs
On 31 January 2008, Jarošík moved back to Russia. He signed with Krylia Sovetov. He played there until December 2009.
After his contract ended, he joined La Liga club Real Zaragoza in Spain. He signed an 18-month deal on 13 January 2010. He made his debut four days later. His first goal for Zaragoza was a header in a 1-1 draw with Atlético Madrid.
In October 2010, Jarošík was sent off in a game against Sporting de Gijón. He fouled a player, which led to a penalty kick. His contract with Zaragoza ended in May 2011.
On 13 August 2011, Jarošík returned to his former club, Sparta Prague. He joined them as a free agent. He played there for two more years.
On 26 August 2013, Jarošík signed with Deportivo Alavés. This team had just been promoted to Spain's Segunda División. He finished his playing career there.
International Matches
Jiří Jarošík played for the Czech Republic national team 23 times. He played for his country between 2000 and 2005. His first game was on 16 August 2000. It was a friendly match against Slovenia. He did not score any goals for the national team. He was not part of the squad for Euro 2004.
Coaching Career
After retiring as a player, Jarošík started his coaching career. On 15 July 2020, he became the head coach of his hometown club, Ústi nad Labem. He signed a one-year deal.
On 25 December 2020, he moved to Celje in Slovenia. This team was the defending champion of the Slovenian PrvaLiga. However, after winning only one game out of eleven, he was dismissed on 26 April 2021.
In September 2021, Jarošík moved to Teplice in the Czech top league. He and his coaching staff were dismissed on 4 March 2023. This happened after a series of losses.
On 22 June 2023, Jarošík was hired by Russian Premier League club Orenburg. He left the club after only two months due to family reasons.
On 5 November 2024, Jarošík was appointed as the manager of Kazakhstan Premier League club Shakhter Karagandy.

Jiří Jarošík married Zlata Shvets in early 2014. His wife is from Russia.
