John B. Barrow (born October 31, 1935 – died February 17, 2015) was a talented American football player. He played as both an offensive and defensive tackle in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for 14 seasons. Barrow played college football for the University of Florida, where he was recognized as an All-American. After college, he played professionally for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the CFL. He was later honored by being inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame.

John Barrow's Early Life
John Barrow was born in Delray Beach, Florida, in 1935. He went to the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. There, he played as an offensive and defensive lineman for the Florida Gators football team. He played from 1954 to 1956 under coach Bob Woodruff.
In his final year, 1956, he was chosen for the first-team All-Southeastern Conference (SEC) team. He was also named a first-team All-American by the Football Writers Association of America. Barrow was the team captain for the Gators that year. Later, he was honored as a "Gator Great" and added to the University of Florida Athletic Hall of Fame.
John Barrow's Professional Football Career
The Detroit Lions of the National Football League (NFL) picked John Barrow in the 1957 NFL Draft. He was the 59th player chosen overall. However, Barrow decided to play in the CFL instead.
He joined the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and played for them from 1957 to 1970. He was a strong player, serving as both a defensive tackle and an offensive tackle. He was chosen as an All-Star 11 times for his defense and 4 times for his offense. In 1967, he was even voted the CFL "lineman of the century."
Barrow was a key part of four Grey Cup-winning Tiger-Cats teams. These wins happened in 1957, 1963, 1965, and 1967. He also played in five other Grey Cup championship games.
After Playing Football
After the 1970 season, John Barrow stopped playing football. He then became the general manager for the Toronto Argonauts from 1971 to 1975.
In 1976, he was inducted into the Canadian Football Hall of Fame. This is a great honor for football players in Canada. In 2006, a Canadian sports network called TSN ranked him among the CFL's top 50 players of all time. He was ranked 17th on that list.
John Barrow passed away on February 17, 2015, at his home in Missouri City, Texas. He was 79 years old.
