John Forbes Nash Jr. (born June 13, 1928 – died May 23, 2015) was a brilliant American mathematician. He made very important discoveries in areas like game theory, which helps us understand how people make decisions. His ideas also helped us learn about differential geometry and partial differential equations.

Nash's work helps explain how chance and choices affect things in our daily lives. His theories are used a lot in economics, which is the study of how money and resources are managed. Later in his life, he was a Senior Research Mathematician at Princeton University. He won the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences in 1994, sharing it with two other game theorists, Reinhard Selten and John Harsanyi.

In 2015, he also won the Abel Prize with Louis Nirenberg for his work on complex equations. John Nash is the only person ever to receive both the Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences and the Abel Prize.

About John Nash's Life

John Nash married Alicia Lopez-Harrison de Lardé in 1957. They had two sons together. They divorced in 1963 but later remarried in 2001. Nash lived in West Windsor, New Jersey for many years.

He became very famous because of the Hollywood movie A Beautiful Mind. This movie showed his amazing mathematical skills and his personal challenges. The film was based on a book by Sylvia Nasar also called A Beautiful Mind, which came out in 1998. The movie was released in 2001, directed by Ron Howard and starring Russell Crowe as Nash. It won four Academy Awards, including Best Picture.
