Early Life of John Landrum

He also attended a celebration in 1855. This event honored the Battle of King's Mountain. Both battles were important victories for the Americans.

Landrum gave the funeral speech for Joshua Hawkins. Hawkins was a member of his church. He was also a hero from both the Cowpens and King's Mountain battles. Joshua Hawkins had a British gun ball in his leg his whole life. But he did not want to be buried with it. Landrum showed the gun ball at Hawkins' funeral.
