John Michael Montgomery (born January 20, 1965) is an American country music singer. He is known for his many hit songs. John Michael started singing with his brother Eddie in a group called Early Tymz. Later, his brother Eddie became famous as half of the duo Montgomery Gentry.
John Michael Montgomery began his solo music career in 1992. He has had over 30 songs appear on the Billboard country music charts. Seven of these songs reached the number one spot! Some of his biggest hits include "I Swear" and "Sold (The Grundy County Auction Incident)". These songs were even named the top country songs of 1994 and 1995 by Billboard.
Two of his popular songs, "I Swear" and "I Can Love You Like That", were also covered by the R&B group All-4-One. Many of John Michael's songs also became popular on the main Billboard pop chart. His song "Letters from Home" reached its highest spot on that chart in 2004.
He has released 10 studio albums. His first three albums, Life's a Dance (1992), Kickin' It Up (1994), and John Michael Montgomery (1995), sold millions of copies. This earned them "multi-platinum" awards from the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA). John Michael Montgomery was born on January 20, 1965. His hometown is Danville, Kentucky. He grew up in Nicholasville, Kentucky.
His father, Harold Edward Montgomery, was a musician. He played in a local country band. John Michael's father taught him how to play his first guitar chords.
John Michael joined his family's band. His older brother, Eddie Montgomery, was also in this band. John Michael played guitar first, then became the lead singer. Later, he started performing by himself.

What I Do the Best (1996)
His fourth album was What I Do the Best. This album did not have a number 1 hit. However, it still sold over a million copies.

John Michael Montgomery married Crystal White on January 8, 1996. They have two children, a son named Walker and a daughter named Madison.
His daughter Madison is married to country singer Travis Denning.
