About John Pawson's Life
John Pawson grew up in Halifax, England. He was the youngest of five children. He went to a well-known school called Eton.
How John Pawson Started His Career
After working in his family's textile business for a while, John Pawson moved to Japan in his mid-twenties. In Tokyo, he visited the studio of a famous Japanese designer, Shiro Kuramata. This visit helped shape his ideas about design.
When he returned to England, he studied at the Architectural Association School of Architecture in London. In 1981, he started his own design company.
