Jordan Greenway was born on February 16, 1997. He is an American professional ice hockey player. He plays as a forward for the Buffalo Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Minnesota Wild picked him in the second round of the 2015 NHL entry draft. He was the 50th player chosen overall.
Jordan has also played for the United States internationally. He played in the 2017 IIHF World Championship and the 2018 Winter Olympics. He made history at the Olympics. He was the first African-American player to be on a US Olympic ice hockey team.

Jordan's Hockey Journey
Starting Young
Jordan Greenway started playing hockey in his hometown of Canton, New York. He then moved to Minnesota to play high school hockey. He played at Shattuck-Saint Mary's, a famous sports school. After that, he joined the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (U.S. NTDP). This program helps young players get better.
He played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for two seasons. His great skills earned him an invitation to a special game. It was called the 2014 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game.
College and Pro Debut
After being drafted by the Wild, Jordan went to college. He played for the Boston University Terriers hockey team. In his third year, he was a top player. He scored more than 30 points for the second time. He was also named to the Hockey East Third All-Star Team.
On March 26, 2018, he signed a three-year contract with the Minnesota Wild. He made his first NHL game appearance the very next day. It was a game against the Nashville Predators. Jordan also played in his first NHL playoff game. This was in the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs against the Winnipeg Jets. He was the first player to play in the Olympics, a college tournament, and the NHL playoffs all in the same season! He scored his first NHL playoff goal on April 15.
Playing in the NHL
Jordan started the 2018–19 season with the Wild. After nine games, he was sent to the American Hockey League (AHL). This was to help him develop his skills more. The day after he moved to the AHL, he scored three goals in one game! This is called a hat trick.
Soon after, he was called back to the NHL. On October 29, he scored his first regular season NHL goal. This was in a game against the Vancouver Canucks.
In March 2023, Jordan was traded to the Buffalo Sabres. He had played for the Minnesota Wild for several seasons. He continues to play for the Sabres today.

He helped Team USA win a gold medal at the 2014 World U-17 Hockey Challenge. He also won another gold medal at the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championships.
After his second year in college, Jordan joined the senior United States team. He played in the 2017 IIHF World Championship. This big tournament was held in Germany and France.
On January 1, 2018, Jordan was chosen for the 2018 Winter Olympics. This was a very special moment. He became the first African-American player to be on a US Olympic hockey team.
Jordan's Family Life
Jordan has a younger brother named James. James was also drafted into the NHL. The Toronto Maple Leafs picked him in the 2016 NHL entry draft. Jordan also has a younger half-sister named Maria.
