Jordan Greenway, born on February 16, 1997, is an American professional ice hockey player. He plays as a forward for the Buffalo Sabres in the National Hockey League (NHL). The Minnesota Wild picked him in the 2015 NHL draft.
Jordan has also played for the United States on the world stage. He played in the 2017 IIHF World Championship and the 2018 Winter Olympics. He made history at the Olympics. Jordan was the first African-American player ever chosen for a US Olympic ice hockey team.

Jordan Greenway's Hockey Journey
Jordan started playing hockey in his hometown of Canton, New York. Later, he played high school hockey at Shattuck-Saint Mary's in Minnesota. After that, he joined the USA Hockey National Team Development Program (U.S. NTDP). He played in the United States Hockey League (USHL) for two seasons with the U.S. NTDP. His great skills earned him an invitation to the 2014 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game.
College Hockey and First NHL Steps
After being drafted by the Wild, Jordan went to college. He played for the Boston University Terriers starting in the 2015–16 season. In his third year, he was named to the Hockey East Third All-Star Team. This was after he scored more than 30 points for the second year in a row. He also made the Hockey East All-Tournament Team.
On March 26, 2018, Jordan signed his first professional contract with the Minnesota Wild. He made his NHL debut the very next day. This game was a 2–1 loss against the Nashville Predators. Jordan played his first NHL playoff game shortly after. This was in Game 1 of the 2018 Stanley Cup playoffs against the Winnipeg Jets.
Jordan became the first player to do something amazing that season. He played in the Olympic Games, a college tournament, and the Stanley Cup playoffs all in the same year! He scored his first NHL playoff goal on April 15. This was in a 6–2 win against the Winnipeg Jets.
Playing in the NHL
Jordan started the 2018–19 season with the Minnesota Wild. After nine games, he was sent to the Iowa Wild in the American Hockey League (AHL). This was to help him develop his skills even more. The very next day, he scored three goals in one game (a hat trick) for the Iowa Wild. After just two AHL games, he was called back up to the NHL. On October 29, he scored his first regular season NHL goal. This was in a game against the Vancouver Canucks.
On January 31, 2022, the Wild signed Jordan to a new three-year contract. During the 2022–23 season, Jordan faced a challenging time. He had only 2 goals and 7 points in 45 games. On March 3, 2023, the Wild traded him to the Buffalo Sabres.

Jordan has won several gold medals playing for the United States. He helped the team win gold at the 2014 World U-17 Hockey Challenge. He also won a gold medal at the 2015 IIHF World U18 Championships.
After his second year in college, Jordan was chosen for the senior United States team. He played in the 2017 IIHF World Championship held in Germany and France.
On January 1, 2018, Jordan was picked to play in the 2018 Winter Olympics. This was a big moment. He became the first African-American player to be on a US Olympic hockey team.

Jordan has a brother named James. James was also drafted into the NHL. The Toronto Maple Leafs picked him in the 2016 NHL draft.
