Hockey Career
Jordan Subban began his professional career in 2015. He signed a three-year contract with the Vancouver Canucks. The team sent him to play for their partner team, the Utica Comets, in the AHL. The AHL is a league where players develop their skills to get ready for the NHL.
Time with the Comets
In his first season with the Comets (2015–16), Subban played very well. He scored 11 goals and had 25 assists in 67 games. He continued with the Comets the next season. His strong performance earned him a spot in the AHL All-Star game in 2017.
Later that month, the Canucks called him up to the NHL for the first time. Even though he joined the main team, he did not play in any games before returning to the Comets.
Trades and New Teams
On December 7, 2017, the Canucks traded Subban to the Los Angeles Kings. He then played for the Kings' AHL team, the Ontario Reign.
After the season, he became a free agent, which means he could sign with any team. On July 1, 2018, he signed a one-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs and played for their AHL team, the Toronto Marlies.
After taking a break during the 2020-21 season, Subban returned to hockey. He signed a contract with the Hershey Bears, the AHL team for the Washington Capitals, in August 2021. He retired from professional hockey in 2022.
A Family of Hockey Players
Jordan is part of a well-known hockey family. His oldest brother, P. K. Subban, was a star defenceman who won the Norris Trophy in 2013 as the NHL's best defender. P.K. played for several teams, including the Montreal Canadiens and Nashville Predators.
His other brother, Malcolm Subban, is a goaltender. A goaltender's job is to block shots and protect the team's net.
