College Football Journey
Before becoming a professional, Josh Pearson played college football for the Jacksonville State Gamecocks. He was part of their team from 2017 to 2019. Playing in college helps young athletes get ready for the big leagues.
Professional Football Career
After his college career, Josh Pearson joined the professional football world. He played for two main teams during his time as a pro.
Playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
In 2020, Josh Pearson signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as a player who was not chosen in the main draft (called an undrafted free agent). He joined their practice squad, which is a group of players who train with the team and can be called up to play in games.
He was briefly moved to the main team for a game in October 2020. Later, in February 2021, he signed with the Buccaneers again. He left the team in August 2021.
Time with the BC Lions
On January 13, 2022, Josh Pearson signed with the BC Lions, a team in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He made his first CFL appearance on June 30, 2022. In his next game, on July 9, 2022, he scored his first touchdown! It was a long 66-yard pass.
Later, he was placed on the injured list. While he was recovering, he even sang the national anthem for one of the team's games in September 2022. Josh Pearson announced his retirement from professional football on May 3, 2023. However, he decided to return to the Lions' practice roster on June 4, 2023. He was released by the team on November 13, 2023.
