José Kelvin de la Nieve Linares, born on August 28, 1986, is a talented boxer. He was born in the Dominican Republic. However, he proudly represents Spain in international boxing competitions. Becoming a Spanish Citizen
José became a Spanish citizen in the year 2000. He lives and trains in Huelva, Spain. He has been a part of the Club Deportivo Yoon.
Early Career and First Olympics
José worked hard to qualify for the Olympics. After not making it to the 2004 Olympics, he won a bronze medal. This was at the 2005 Mediterranean Games in Almería. He was the only boxer from Spain to compete in the Beijing Olympics. In his first Olympic fight, he lost to American boxer Luis Yanez. The score was 9 to 12.
European Championships Success
José Kelvin de la Nieve has won several medals at European championships. These events bring together the best amateur boxers from across Europe.
Silver Medal in 2008
In 2008, José won a silver medal at the 2008 European Amateur Boxing Championships. This competition took place in Liverpool, England. He reached the final match but lost to Hovhannes Danielyan.
Bronze Medals in 2010 and 2015
José continued his success in later championships. At the 2010 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Moscow, Russia, he earned a bronze medal. He lost to Paddy Barnes from Ireland in the semifinals. He also won another bronze medal at the 2015 European Amateur Boxing Championships in Samokov.
Second Olympic Appearance
José qualified for the 2012 Summer Olympics in London. This was his second time competing in the Olympic Games. However, he again lost in his first fight. This time, his opponent was Carlos Quipo from Ecuador.
