Juan Fernando López Aguilar (born 10 June 1961) is a Spanish politician and expert in law. He is a member of the Spanish Socialist Workers' Party (PSOE). Since 2009, he has been working as a member of the European Parliament. Before that, he was the Minister of Justice for Spain. He also represented his home city, Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, in the Spanish Parliament for many years.

Juan Fernando López Aguilar was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, a city in Spain. He studied law and earned a special advanced degree called a Ph.D. from the University of Bologna in Italy. A Ph.D. means he is an expert in his field.
For a long time, he was a professor teaching constitutional law at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. This means he taught students about the rules and laws that govern a country. He also has another master's degree in law and diplomacy. To help pay for his studies, he worked as a caricaturist for newspapers and drew comic books.

Serving in the Spanish Parliament
