Juan Marcos Foyth (born January 12, 1998) is a professional footballer from Argentina. He plays as a right-back for the Spanish club Villarreal. He also plays for the Argentina national team.
Juan started his football journey at his hometown club, Estudiantes. Later, he moved to play in the Premier League for Tottenham Hotspur. After that, he joined La Liga club Villarreal. With Villarreal, he helped the team win the UEFA Europa League in 2021.
Foyth first played for Argentina's senior national team in 2018. He was part of the squad that finished third in the 2019 Copa América. He also helped Argentina win the 2022 Finalissima and the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Club Career Highlights
Starting at Estudiantes
Juan Foyth was born in La Plata, Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. He began his football career at his local club, Estudiantes de La Plata. He spent many years in their youth academy. When he was younger, he played as an attacking midfielder. Before he turned 16, he changed his position to centre-back.
In January 2017, Juan signed his first professional contract with Estudiantes. He made his first team debut in the Argentine Primera División on March 19, 2017. He was 19 years old at the time. He played seven league games and two Copa Sudamericana matches for the club.
Playing for Tottenham Hotspur
On August 30, 2017, Foyth joined Tottenham Hotspur in England. He signed a five-year contract. He played his first game for Tottenham on September 19 in an EFL Cup match. Tottenham won that game 1–0 against Barnsley.
Juan made his Premier League debut on November 3, 2018. It was an away game against Wolverhampton Wanderers. In that match, he gave away two penalties, but Tottenham still won 3–2. In his very next league game, against Crystal Palace, he scored his first ever professional goal. This goal helped Tottenham win 1–0. On May 4, 2019, he was sent off (given a red card) just three minutes after coming on as a substitute. This happened in a game against AFC Bournemouth.
Moving to Villarreal
In October 2020, Foyth signed a new contract with Tottenham until 2023. He was then loaned to the Spanish club Villarreal. He played his first game for Villarreal on October 22. He even scored a goal in a 5–3 home win against Sivasspor in the UEFA Europa League. He played 11 more games in that tournament. His team went on to win the Europa League, beating Manchester United in the final.
After his loan period, Foyth officially joined Villarreal in June 2021. He signed a five-year deal. On August 16, he received a red card in a game against Granada CF. He became a very important player at right-back for Villarreal's coach, Unai Emery. On May 12, 2022, he scored his first goal in La Liga. This goal helped Villarreal win 5–1 against Rayo Vallecano.
International Career for Argentina
Juan Foyth played for the Argentina national under-20 team in 2017. He played 12 games for the youth team. Nine of these were in the 2017 South American Youth Football Championship. The other three were during the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
In October 2018, Foyth was called up to the senior Argentina national team for the first time. He made his debut on November 16 in a friendly match against Mexico. Argentina won 2–0, and Foyth was named man of the match for his excellent performance.
He was chosen for Argentina's squad for the 2019 Copa América. He started his first game in the competition against Qatar. He played as a right-back in three more games, including the semi-final against Brazil. Argentina lost that game 2–0. He also played in the third-place play-off match against Chile, which Argentina won 2–1.
On June 1, 2022, Foyth was an unused substitute when Argentina won 3–0 against Italy at Wembley Stadium. This match was the 2022 Finalissima.
He was also part of Argentina's squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. He only played a few minutes in the semi-final against Croatia. Argentina was already winning 3–0 when he came on. He was an unused substitute in the final against France. Argentina won the World Cup by beating France in a penalty shoot-out.
Personal Life
Juan Foyth was born in Argentina. He has family roots from Czech and Polish backgrounds. He holds a Polish passport and also has Spanish nationality.
His grandparents' last name was originally spelled Fojt. It was changed to Foyth when they arrived in Argentina.
In July 2019, Juan Foyth married his longtime girlfriend, Ariana Alonso, in La Plata, Argentina.
