History of Juan Martín
Puerto Rico was once controlled by Spain. After the Spanish–American War in 1898, Spain gave Puerto Rico to the United States. This happened under the rules of the Treaty of Paris of 1898. Puerto Rico then became an area connected to the United States but not fully a state. It is called an unincorporated territory.
Population Changes Over Time
In 1899, the United States government counted the people living in Puerto Rico. This count is called a census. The census found that 1,473 people lived in the Juan Martín neighborhood. The population has grown over the years.

Types of Sectors
The names for these smaller areas can be different. Some common types of sectores include:
- sector (a general area)
- urbanización (a planned housing development)
