Juan Antonio Señor Gómez, born on August 26, 1958, is a famous Spanish former football player. He played as a central midfielder. After he stopped playing, he became a football manager.
He spent most of his professional career playing for Real Zaragoza. He played almost 375 official games for them over nine years. Juan Señor is also known for scoring one of the most important goals for the Spanish national team. He played 41 games for Spain in the 1980s. He represented his country in one World Cup and one European Championship.

Playing for Football Clubs
Juan Señor was born in Madrid, Spain. He started his football journey in the youth team of Real Madrid. As a professional player, he played for a few different clubs. These included CD Ciempozuelos in the lower leagues and Deportivo Alavés in the second division.
His most important time was with Real Zaragoza. He played 369 games for this club and scored 70 goals. In the 1986–87 season, he scored 11 goals in 43 matches. Zaragoza finished fifth in the league that year. He also helped Zaragoza win the Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup) in 1986. A magazine called Don Balón even voted him the best player in the league during the 1982–83 season.
Sadly, Juan Señor had to stop playing football earlier than he wanted. This was because of a heart condition. His last season as a player was 1989–90.
Becoming a Manager
After retiring as a player, Juan Señor started a new career as a coach. He worked with several football clubs, including CP Mérida, UD Salamanca, FC Cartagena, and CD Logroñés. He also started a special football camp for children. This camp was in the Pyrenees mountains in Aragon.
On February 27, 2023, Juan Señor returned to managing after 20 years. He was appointed manager of Pontevedra CF, a club in the Primera Federación league. However, he could not prevent the team from being relegated (moving down to a lower league).
Playing for Spain
Juan Señor played 41 games for the Spanish national team. His first game was on October 27, 1982. It was a qualifying match for the UEFA Euro 1984 against Iceland. Spain won that game 1–0 in Málaga.
He scored six goals for Spain. One of his most famous goals happened on December 23, 1983. Spain needed to win by 11 goals against Malta to qualify for the Euro 1984 tournament. Juan Señor scored the 12th goal in the 85th minute. Spain won the game 12–1 in Seville, which was an amazing result!
Juan Señor was part of the Spanish teams that played in Euro 1984 and the 1986 FIFA World Cup. In the 1986 World Cup, he scored another important late goal. This was in a quarter-final match against Belgium. The game ended 1–1 after extra time, and Spain lost in a penalty shootout.
