Juan Antonio Señor Gómez (born August 26, 1958) is a Spanish former football player. He played as a central midfielder, helping his team both in defense and attack. He is also a football manager.
Juan Señor is best known for his time playing for Real Zaragoza. He played almost 375 official games for them over nine years. He also scored one of the most important goals for the Spanish national team. He played 41 games for Spain in the 1980s, representing his country in one World Cup and one European Championship.

Juan Señor's Club Football Career
Juan Señor was born in Madrid, Spain. He started his football journey in the youth teams of Real Madrid. After that, he played for a few different clubs.
Playing for Different Teams
He played for CD Ciempozuelos in a lower league called Tercera División. Then, he moved to Deportivo Alavés in the Segunda División, which is a higher league. Finally, he became a professional player for Real Zaragoza.
Success with Real Zaragoza
Juan Señor played 369 games for Real Zaragoza and scored 70 goals. He was a very important player for the team. In the 1986–87 season, he scored 11 goals in 43 matches. Zaragoza finished fifth in the league that year.
He also helped Zaragoza win the Copa del Rey (King's Cup) in 1986. This is a big knockout competition in Spanish football. A magazine called Don Balón even voted him the best player in the league during the 1982–83 season.
Retirement and Coaching
Juan Señor had to stop playing football earlier than planned because of a heart condition. His last season as a player was 1989–90.
After retiring from playing, he became a coach. He managed teams like CP Mérida, UD Salamanca, FC Cartagena, and CD Logroñés. He also started a special football camp for children in the Pyrenees mountains in Aragon, Spain.
In February 2023, Juan Señor returned to coaching after 20 years. He was appointed manager of Pontevedra CF, a club in the Primera Federación league. However, he could not prevent the team from being relegated to a lower division.

Juan Señor played 41 games for the Spanish national team. His first game was on October 27, 1982. It was a qualifying match for the UEFA Euro 1984 against Iceland, which Spain won 1–0.
The Famous 12–1 Match
One of his most memorable moments was on December 23, 1983. Spain needed to win by 11 goals against Malta to qualify for the Euro 1984 tournament. Juan Señor scored the 12th goal in the 85th minute, making the final score 12–1. This incredible win helped Spain qualify!

He was part of the Spanish team that played in the Euro 1984 tournament. He also played in the 1986 FIFA World Cup. In the World Cup, he scored another important goal in the quarter-finals against Belgium. The game ended 1–1 after extra time, and Spain lost in a penalty shootout.
