Edward Ernest "Judge" Reinhold Jr. (born May 21, 1957) is an American actor. He became well-known for his roles in Hollywood movies during the 1980s. He starred in popular films like Stripes (1981), Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982), and Ruthless People (1986). He also appeared in all the movies in the Beverly Hills Cop series (1984, 1987, 1994, and 2024). He was also in The Santa Clause film series (1994, 2002, and 2006).

Early Life and Education
Judge Reinhold was born in Wilmington, Delaware. His parents were Regina Celeste and Edward Ernest Reinhold. His father was a lawyer. Judge grew up in Fredericksburg, Virginia. He went to James Monroe High School. Later, his family moved to Martin County, Florida. He also attended Mary Washington College and Palm Beach State College.
Acting Career
Starting Out in Acting
Judge Reinhold began his acting career in the late 1970s. He had a main role in the movie Running Scared (1980). He also had a supporting part in the comedy Stripes (1981), which was a big success. In 1982, he appeared in the comedy Pandemonium.
His first major film role was as high school senior Brad Hamilton. This was in the movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982). He acted alongside many actors who later became famous. These included Sean Penn, Phoebe Cates, and Forest Whitaker. Reinhold also had small roles in The Lords of Discipline (1983) and Gremlins (1984). He even appeared in a music video for Pat Benatar's song "Shadows of the Night".
Becoming a Star
Reinhold's career really took off when he played Detective Billy Rosewood. This was in the movie Beverly Hills Cop (1984). He played a junior police detective who worked with Eddie Murphy's character. The movie was a huge hit.
After this success, Reinhold got lead roles in other films. These included Roadhouse 66 (1985), Head Office (1985), and Off Beat. However, these movies were not as successful. He then had a supporting role in Ruthless People (1986), which was a big success. He also appeared in Beverly Hills Cop II (1987), another very successful film.
Reinhold then took the lead in Vice Versa (1988). This movie did not do well. After this, he started taking more supporting roles.
Later Roles
He had supporting roles in Rosalie Goes Shopping (1989) and Daddy's Dyin': Who's Got the Will? (1990). He also had lead roles in Enid Is Sleeping (1991) and Zandalee (1991). In 1992, he starred in the music video for the song "Honestly" by the band Harem Scarem.
In 1994, Reinhold appeared in Beverly Hills Cop III. He also played Dr. Neal Miller in The Santa Clause. He played this role again in The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and The Santa Clause 3: The Escape Clause (2006).
Reinhold was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role on the TV show Seinfeld. He played a character known as the "close talker". He also appeared in the miniseries Into the West. He took over the role of the dad in two direct-to-video movies in the Beethoven film series.
In 2008, Reinhold appeared in the movie Swing Vote. In September 2022, it was confirmed that he would return as Detective Billy Rosewood in Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F. This movie was released in 2024.
Personal Life
Judge Reinhold got his nickname "Judge" when he was a baby. People thought he looked serious, like a judge. He is married to Amy Reinhold. They have a daughter named Haley Rose, who was born in February 2013. They live in Little Rock, Arkansas.
