Judith Hoag (born June 29, 1963) is an American actress. She is famous for playing April O'Neil in the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (1990). She also played Gwen Cromwell Piper in the Disney Channel TV movie series Halloweentown. This series ran from 1998 to 2006.
Hoag has also had important roles in several TV shows. She played Cindy Dutton Price in the HBO drama series Big Love (2006–2011). She was Tandy Hampton in the ABC musical drama Nashville (2012–2018). Another role was Stephanie Quinn in the Syfy fantasy drama The Magicians (2016–2020).

Early Life and Acting Start
Judith Hoag was born in Newburyport, Massachusetts. When she was a teenager, she went to Walnut Hill School in Natick, Massachusetts. There, she focused on learning how to act. She finished school in 1981.
Beginning Her Acting Career
Hoag started acting professionally in 1986. One of her first big roles was in the ABC soap opera Loving. She played Charlotte 'Lotty' Bates Alden. After leaving Loving in 1988, she began working in primetime TV shows. In 1989, she got a main role in the CBS comedy series Wolf. This show only lasted one season. In 1990, she also appeared in the movies A Matter of Degrees and Cadillac Man.

Judith Hoag is best known for her role as April O'Neil. She played this character in the first Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie. This film was a huge hit at the box office. It earned over $200 million worldwide. This made it one of the top-grossing films of 1990. After the success of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Hoag appeared in several TV movies. These included Fine Things and Switched at Birth.
Becoming Gwen Piper in Halloweentown
Hoag became even more recognized for playing Gwen Cromwell Piper. This was in the Disney Channel Halloweentown movie series. She appeared in four films:

In 2015, Hoag filmed a small part for the movie Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows. Her scene was cut from the final movie. However, it was included when the movie was released for home viewing.
From 2016 to 2020, Hoag had a recurring role in the Syfy fantasy series The Magicians. She played the mother of Olivia Taylor Dudley's character. She also had a supporting role in the 2018 romantic drama film Forever My Girl.
Personal Life
In 1988, Judith Hoag married actor Vince Grant. They had two children, a son and a daughter. They divorced in 2016. On February 13, 2021, she married Phillip Stone.
