Judith A. Hunt is an American artist who creates many different kinds of art. She is an illustrator, painter, cartoonist, and designer. Her artwork can be seen in books, magazines, TV shows, comics, videos, and even on toys! She has also worked as an art director and designer for magazines. Today, she draws for educational books and children's books from her studio in Kennebunk, Maine. She also shows her paintings in art shows.

About Judith Hunt's Art Career

Drawing Comics

From 1980 to 1985, Judith Hunt helped create and write comic books. She worked with her husband at the time, Chuck Dixon. They created comics like Evangeline and Winnie-the-Pooh word books. She also designed and drew for these projects. She worked on Robotech Defenders with writer Andrew Helfer.

In 1987, Hunt drew three issues of Conan the King. One of these issues was completely inked by Al Williamson. She also drew issues #3 and #4 of First Comics' Evangeline. She made other comics for First Comics too. She updated the designs for Macmillan's Raggedy Ann and Andy. She also drew many children's books. These included What's a Gonzo and Baby Kermit's Birthday Surprise for The Jim Henson Company. She also designed packaging for toys.

Working for Highlights for Children

In 1988, Judith Hunt started a new job at Highlights for Children in Pennsylvania. She worked mainly for Highlights for Children and Boyds Mills Press until 2000. She drew the Timbertoes comic strip from 1992 to 2002. She also designed puzzles for Highlights' "Puzzlemania" and Hidden Picture books. She created characters and drew for "Which Way USA" and "Funzone" magazines.

Her Work Today

Judith Hunt's recent work includes the children's picture book Prunes and Rupe by Lydia Griffin. She also illustrated Animals Under Our Feet, which won an award in 2008. She drew for the historical novels Susan Creek and Two Williams by Douglas Winter.

Today, Hunt draws for the online comic series Evangeline. Her son, Ben Dixon, writes the new issues. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators.
