Julián Juderías was born in Madrid, the capital of Spain. He came from an important and educated family. His father, Mariano Juderías, was a well-known writer and translator of history. His mother was French.

When he was just 17, Julián started working for the Spanish Ministry of State. This is like the government department that deals with other countries. In 1900, after his father passed away, he moved to Paris. There, he went to the School of Eastern Languages. He also studied in places like Leipzig and Odesa. He learned many languages, including French, German, and Russian.

Main Work and Influence

Julián Juderías's most important work was a study about something called the "Black Legend." This "legend" was a way of writing history that was unfair or untrue about Spain, its people, and its culture. He wrote to show how this kind of writing was biased and not objective.

During the First World War, Julián Juderías worked for King Alfonso XIII's European War Office. This office helped with important matters during the war.

Even after his death, Julián Juderías's ideas continued to be important. His writings greatly influenced other Spanish thinkers, especially those who held conservative views.
