Junior Bake Off (series 6) facts for kids

The sixth series of Junior Bake Off is a fun baking competition for young bakers in the United Kingdom. It started on 11 January 2021. Sixteen talented young bakers joined the show, all hoping to win the big prize.

The competition began with two groups of eight bakers. Each group competed for five days. Four bakers from each group were eliminated during this time. The best four bakers from each group then moved on to the week-long finals. The series ended with a "super-difficult showdown" episode. In the end, Reece was crowned the winner of the 2021 series!

How the Competition Worked

The bakers faced different challenges each day. They had to impress the judges, Liam Charles and Ravneet Gill. Harry Hill hosted the show and cheered them on!

Heat 1: The First Group

The first group of bakers included Cece, Charlie, Erin, Fern, Fyn, Reece, Robbie, and Sophia.

• Reece was the Star Baker in Episode 1 (Cake) and Episode 5 (Pastry).
• Robbie was the Star Baker in Episode 2 (Biscuits).
• Erin was the Star Baker in Episode 3 (Bread).
• Fern was the Star Baker in Episode 4 (Dessert).
• Charlie was the first baker to leave in Episode 2.
• Fyn left in Episode 3.
• Sophia was eliminated in Episode 4.
• Erin was the last baker to leave Heat 1 in Episode 5.
• Cece, Fern, Reece, and Robbie made it to the finals!

Heat 2: The Second Group

The second group included Henry, Maddi, Naima, Safiyyah, Sicily, Toby, Will, and Zack.

• Zack was the Star Baker in Episode 6 (Cake) and Episode 8 (Bread).
• Safiyyah was the Star Baker in Episode 7 (Biscuits) and Episode 10 (Pastry).
• Maddi was the Star Baker in Episode 9 (Dessert).
• Sicily was the first baker to leave in Episode 7.
• Toby left in Episode 8.
• Will was eliminated in Episode 9.
• Henry was the last baker to leave Heat 2 in Episode 10.
• Maddi, Naima, Safiyyah, and Zack made it to the finals!

The Finals: Who Made It to the End?

The final week brought together the top bakers from both heats: Cece, Fern, Maddi, Naima, Reece, Robbie, Safiyyah, and Zack.

• Reece was the Star Baker in Episode 11 (Street Food).
• Robbie was the Star Baker in Episode 13 (Illusion).
• Naima was the Star Baker in Episode 14 (Pâtisserie).
• Maddi was eliminated first in the finals during Episode 11.
• Zack left in Episode 12.
• Fern was eliminated in Episode 13.
• Safiyyah left in Episode 14, the semi-final.
• Reece, Cece, Naima, and Robbie were the four amazing bakers who made it to the grand final!

Reece was crowned the winner of Junior Bake Off Series 6! Cece, Naima, and Robbie were the talented runners-up.

Episode Challenges

Each episode had two main challenges: a Technical Challenge and a Showstopper Challenge.

Episode 1: Amazing Cakes

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 6 Strawberry and Custard Jaffa Cakes. Reece came in 1st place!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created a Fantasy Cake. Reece's "Rainbowsplosion" cake was a hit!

Episode 2: Brilliant Biscuits

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 4 Cookie Cups with Hazelnut Milk. Reece was 1st again!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers designed Biscuit Artwork. Robbie's "Arty Flowers Creation" was the Star Baker.

Episode 3: Baked Breads

• Technical Challenge: Bakers created a Pizza Star Bread. Cece took 1st place!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers made a Sweet Mythical Bread Creature. Erin's "Nessie Cinnamon and Raisin Iced Swirl" was the Star Baker.

Episode 4: Delicious Desserts

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 3 Soufflé Pancakes. Reece was 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created a Decorative Trifle. Fern's "Banana Drama Trifle" was the Star Baker.

Episode 5: Perfect Pastries

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 2 Caribbean Patties. Cece came in 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created "Selfie-clairs." Reece's "Picture, Profiterole, Perfect" was the Star Baker.

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made a Chess Cake. Zack was 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created a Cupcake Scene for a Loved One. Zack's "Play Date with Jules" was the Star Baker.

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 4 Chocolate Marshmallow Biscuits. Safiyyah was 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created a Fairytale Biscuit Scene. Safiyyah's "Little Red Riding Hood" was the Star Baker.

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 4 Tiger Pretzels. Zack was 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers made a Savoury Bread Animal. Zack's "Mrs Fish" was the Star Baker.

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 4 Mega-Choccy Stacks. Maddi was 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created a Monster Mash-up Dessert. Maddi's "Grizzly Gorilla Banana Eclairs" was the Star Baker.

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 6 Cinnamon Churros. Zack was 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created a Celebratory Savoury Pie. Safiyyah's "Tandoori Meat Pie" was the Star Baker.

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 4 Yorkshire Pudding Falafel Wraps. Robbie was 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created a Doughnut Display. Reece's "Four in a Dough" was the Star Baker.

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made a Cherry Blossom Deco Roll. Safiyyah was 1st!

Episode 14: Pâtisserie Perfection (Semi-final)

• Technical Challenge: Bakers made 5 Macaron Handbags. Safiyyah was 1st!
• Showstopper Challenge: Bakers created a Choux Centerpiece. Naima's "Swan Lake" was the Star Baker.
