Juno in Mythology and History
Juno was a very important goddess in Roman mythology. She was known as the queen of the gods and the protector of women, marriage, and childbirth. She was like the Roman version of the Greek goddess Hera. The month of June is actually named after her!

Asteroid 3 Juno
3 Juno is one of the largest asteroids in our solar system. It's a huge rock orbiting the Sun, mostly found between Mars and Jupiter. It was the third asteroid ever discovered, back in 1804.
Juno Spacecraft
The Juno spacecraft is a special robot sent by NASA to study the giant planet Jupiter. It launched in 2011 and arrived at Jupiter in 2016. Its mission is to learn more about Jupiter's atmosphere, magnetic field, and how it formed.

The name Juno was also used for some early American rockets. The Jupiter-C rocket, sometimes called Juno I, was used to launch the first American satellite, Explorer 1, into space in 1958. Juno Beach was one of the five main landing zones used by Allied forces during the Battle of Normandy in World War II. This important event happened on D-Day in 1944, when soldiers landed on the beaches of France to fight against the enemy.
Project Juno
Project Juno was a special project from Britain that sent the first British astronaut, Helen Sharman, into space. She traveled to the Mir space station in 1991.
