Kalib Starnes (born January 6, 1975) is a Canadian mixed martial artist. He is known for his career in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and other fighting leagues.

Early Life and Martial Arts Training
Kalib Starnes started learning martial arts when he was very young. He even began teaching others while still a teenager. In 1994, he started training in Gracie Jiu-Jitsu at the Gracie Academy in Torrance, California.
He has trained in many different martial arts styles. These include Muay Thai, Boxing, Judo, Aikido, Kung Fu, Taekwondo, Greco Roman Wrestling, Shotokan and Wado Ryu Karate.

Kalib Starnes has had a long career in mixed martial arts (MMA). This is a sport where fighters use different martial arts styles.
Fighting in the UFC
Starnes made his first appearance in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) on June 24, 2006. This was at the end of a TV show called The Ultimate Fighter 3. He won his first UFC fight against Danny Abbadi using a move called a rear naked choke.
His biggest win came on May 26, 2007, at UFC 71. He defeated Chris Leben by a unanimous decision. This means all the judges agreed he won. This fight was so exciting that it earned him a Fight of the Night bonus award.
During the UFC 64 event, Starnes lost to Yushin Okami. The referee stopped the fight in the third round.
In his last UFC match, he fought Nate Quarry at UFC 83 in Montreal, Canada. Starnes lost this fight by a unanimous decision. Some fans and experts criticized his performance. They felt he avoided fighting Quarry for most of the match. Because of this, he was sometimes called "The Running Man." Many people believe this fight led to him leaving the UFC.
After the UFC
