Kamran Akmal (born 13 January 1982) is a famous Pakistani cricketer. He played for the Pakistan team as a right-handed batsman and a wicket-keeper. He started his international career in November 2002.
Kamran Akmal was part of the Pakistan team that won the 2009 ICC World Twenty20. He was a very important player for Peshawar Zalmi in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He played for them from 2016 until 2022. He scored three centuries and helped his team win the PSL 2017 title. They were also runners-up in 2018, 2019, and 2021.
In February 2023, Kamran Akmal announced he was retiring from all types of cricket. He decided to focus on new roles in cricket, like administration and coaching.

Early Life and Family
Kamran Akmal was born in Lahore, Pakistan. His father, Mohammad Akmal Siddique, was a senior cricket administrator. Kamran is one of eight children, with a sister and seven brothers.
Two of his younger brothers, Adnan Akmal and Umar Akmal, are also professional cricketers. Adnan is a wicket-keeper batsman, and Umar is a specialist batsman. The famous Pakistani batsman and former captain Babar Azam is also his cousin.
Kamran Akmal went to the Beaconhouse School System. In 2006, he married the daughter of former Test cricketer Mohammad Ilyas. He lives with his wife and children.
International Cricket Career
Kamran Akmal was known as a fast-scoring batsman and a skilled wicket-keeper. He scored six centuries in Test cricket. One of his most important centuries was 109 runs against India in 2005. This helped Pakistan draw the match.
His batting was very strong in early 2006. He scored seven international centuries in just six months. He often batted lower in the order but also opened the innings in shorter cricket games. As an opener, he scored two centuries in a row against England in One Day Internationals (ODIs).
Wicket-keeping Skills
Kamran Akmal's wicket-keeping improved a lot over time. In the 2009 T20 World Cup, he set a world record. He made four stumpings in one match against the Netherlands.
However, he sometimes had difficult moments. During a Test match against Australia in 2010, he dropped several catches. This led to him being temporarily replaced by Sarfraz Ahmed. After this, his wicket-keeping generally got better.

- In the 2017 season, he scored 88 runs in one match and a century (100 runs) in another. He was the top run-scorer in the tournament with 353 runs. He won awards for best batsman and best wicket-keeper.

- In November 2017, he scored 150 runs not out in a T20 match. He hit the most sixes in a domestic T20 match in Pakistan.
- He became the third batsman to score five half-centuries in a row in T20 cricket.
- He set a world record for the highest opening partnership in T20 history with Salman Butt. They scored 209 runs together.
- In April 2018, he was the captain of Federal Areas for the 2018 Pakistan Cup. He scored 105 runs in the first match.
- In October 2020, he became the first wicket-keeper to complete 100 stumpings in Twenty20 cricket.
Cricket Administration and Coaching
After retiring from playing, Kamran Akmal moved into new roles in cricket.
- In January 2023, he became the head of a selection committee. This committee chooses players for domestic age-group teams (U-13, U-16, U-19).
- In February 2023, he also joined Haroon Rasheed's national selection committee.
- Later in February 2023, he stepped down from these selection roles. This was because he had a contract with a TV channel to cover the 2023 PSL. He felt that being a PCB official and a TV analyst at the same time would not be fair.
- In February 2023, he was also appointed as the batting mentor for Peshawar Zalmi. He even served as the head coach for an exhibition match when the regular coach was not available.
