Kamran Akmal is a famous Pakistani cricketer. He was born on January 13, 1982. He played for the Pakistan team as a right-handed batsman and a wicket-keeper. A wicket-keeper is a player who stands behind the stumps to catch the ball.
Kamran started his international career in November 2002. He was a key player in the Pakistan team that won the 2009 ICC World Twenty20 tournament. He also played for the Peshawar Zalmi team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) from 2016 to 2022. He helped them win the PSL 2017 title. Early Life and Family
Kamran Akmal was born in Lahore, Pakistan. His father, Mohammad Akmal Siddique, was also involved in cricket administration. Kamran is one of eight children in his family.
Two of his younger brothers, Adnan Akmal and Umar Akmal, are also professional cricketers. Adnan is a wicket-keeper batsman, and Umar is a specialist batsman. The famous Pakistani batsman and former captain Babar Azam is also Kamran's cousin. Kamran went to the Beaconhouse School System for his education. In 2006, he married the daughter of former Test cricketer Mohammad Ilyas. He lives with his wife and children.
Playing Style
Kamran Akmal was known for being a quick-scoring batsman. He could hit runs fast, which was very helpful for his team. He also played as a wicket-keeper, catching balls and helping to get players out. He scored six centuries (100 runs or more) in Test cricket matches.

Kamran Akmal began his international career in November 2002. He played his first Test match against Zimbabwe.
Key Batting Moments
One of his most important centuries was 109 runs against India in 2005. This helped Pakistan draw the match. He was a very important player for Pakistan when England toured in 2005.
Kamran usually batted lower down the order in Test matches. However, he also opened the batting in shorter formats of the game. As an opener, he scored two centuries in a row against England in One Day Internationals (ODIs). In one Test match, he saved Pakistan from a very low score of 39/6. Wicket-keeping Skills
Kamran Akmal's wicket-keeping improved a lot during the 2009 T20 World Cup. He set a world record by getting four stumpings in one match against the Netherlands. A stumping is when the wicket-keeper knocks the bails off the stumps with the ball while the batsman is out of their crease.
He was part of the Pakistan team that won the T20 World Cup in 2009.
Later International Appearances
In August 2012, Kamran was called back to play for Pakistan in a series against Australia. He also played in ODI matches during tours to South Africa, Scotland, and Ireland in 2013. He was part of the national team for the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy. His last matches for the national team were three ODIs against the West Indies in April 2017. In February 2023, he officially retired from all forms of cricket.

Indian Premier League (IPL)
Kamran Akmal played in the first season of the IPL in 2008. He was part of the Rajasthan Royals team. He played five matches, including the final, where his team won the tournament.
Pakistan Super League (PSL)
Kamran was a key player for the Peshawar Zalmi team in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). He was bought for US$70,000 in the first PSL season.
In the 2017 season, he scored 88 runs off just 48 balls in the first match. He later scored a century (100 runs) off 60 balls against Karachi Kings. This helped his team reach the final. He was the top run-scorer in the tournament with 353 runs. He won awards for being the best batsman and best wicket-keeper of the season. Kamran has scored three centuries in the PSL, which is the most by any player.
Other Leagues
Kamran Akmal also played in other cricket leagues around the world. In 2015, he played for Trinbago Knight Riders in the Caribbean Premier League (CPL). He also played in the Global T20 Canada and the Afghanistan Premier League. In 2019, he played in the first Qatar T10 League. He was also the captain of the Kotli Lions in the Kashmir Premier League.
Domestic Cricket Success
In the 2016–17 Quaid-e-Azam Trophy, Kamran Akmal was the highest run-scorer. He made 1,035 runs in the tournament. In November 2017, he scored 150 runs not out in a T20 match. This made him the first Pakistani batsman to score 150 runs in a T20 match. He also hit the most sixes in a domestic T20 match in Pakistan.
He and Salman Butt set a world record opening partnership in T20 history. They scored an unbeaten 209 runs together. This was the third-highest partnership for any wicket in T20 history. In October 2020, Kamran Akmal became the first wicket-keeper to complete 100 stumpings in Twenty20 cricket.
After Playing: New Roles
Cricket Administration
In January 2023, Kamran Akmal became the head of a selection committee. This committee helps choose players for domestic age-group teams (U-13, U-16, and U-19). In February 2023, he also became a member of the national selection committee. However, he later stepped down from these roles because he had a contract with a TV channel.
Coaching Career
In February 2023, Kamran Akmal was appointed as the batting mentor for Peshawar Zalmi. This means he helps the players improve their batting skills. He also served as the head coach for Peshawar Zalmi in an exhibition match.
