Kanopolis State Park is a fantastic place to explore in the Smoky Hills region of Kansas. It's located southwest of Salina, not far from I-70. This park is famous for its big lake, cool desert plants like yucca, and even a busy prairie dog town! You can also find amazing sandstone canyons here.
The park was finished in 1948. It covers more than 22,000 acres (about 89 square kilometers) of rolling hills, tall bluffs, and thick woods. At its heart is a huge lake, about 3,000 acres (12 square kilometers) big. This makes Kanopolis State Park a perfect spot for outdoor adventures.
