Kara is a famous K-pop girl group from South Korea. The group started in 2007 with four members. Over time, some members changed. The name "Kara" means "sweet melody." It also comes from the Greek word "Chara," which means joy. The group wanted to bring joy to people through their music.
Kara debuted in 2007 on a TV show called M! Countdown. They were part of a company called DSP Media. In 2010, Kara also started performing in Japan. They became very popular there. In 2011, they appeared on a big Japanese music show called NHK Red and White Singing Contest. They even had a huge concert at the Tokyo Dome in Japan on January 6, 2013.
In 2014, two members, Jiyoung and Nicole, left the group. A new member, Heo Youngji, joined Kara after being chosen on a TV reality show. Later, the contracts for Gyuri, Seungyeon, and Hara ended. They decided not to continue with their company. Because of this, it is not clear if Kara has officially stopped performing or if they are just taking a break.
