Karak is an important city in Pakistan. It is the main city, or headquarters, of the Karak District. This district is located in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
Karak is about 123 kilometers (about 76 miles) away from Peshawar. It sits right on the main Indus Highway, a big road that connects Peshawar to Karachi. The city's exact location is 33°7'12N 71°5'41E.
A unique thing about Karak is that almost everyone living there belongs to one special group of Pashtuns. This group is called the Khattaks.
