Starting Out and Early Challenges (2011–2017)
Kartik Aaryan began his acting career while still in his third year of college. His first film was Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), a comedy about three young men and their relationship troubles. He found the casting call for the movie on Facebook. He got the role after auditioning for six months.
At that time, Kartik didn't have much money. He lived in an apartment with 12 other people who also wanted to be actors. He even cooked for them to earn some money. In Pyaar Ka Punchnama, his character had a very long speech, which was one of the longest single shots in a Hindi film at that time. The movie became a surprise hit.
Two years later, Kartik starred in another film called Akaash Vani (2013). This was a romance movie. After that, he worked with director Subhash Ghai in the film Kaanchi (2014). Even though his role was small, Kartik wanted to work with the famous director. However, both Akaash Vani and Kaanchi did not do well at the box office. This made Kartik wonder about his future in acting.
In 2015, Kartik returned in the sequel Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2. In this movie, he delivered an even longer speech, which lasted seven minutes! The film was a huge financial success. It earned a lot of money, making it a big hit for Kartik. He even won an award for Best Actor in a Comic Role for his performance.
The next year, Kartik appeared in a short film called Silvat. In 2017, he starred in the comedy Guest iin London. This movie was about a young couple dealing with unexpected guests. However, this film did not do well at the box office either.
