Karunagappally is a town in the Kollam district of Kerala, India. It is a municipality, which means it has its own local government. The town is about 24 kilometers (15 miles) north of Kollam city. It is also 60 kilometers (37 miles) south of Alappuzha.
Karunagappally is growing quickly and is part of the larger Kollam metropolitan area. The area includes several smaller towns and villages. These include Alappad, Ochira, and Chavara. The town is bordered by Kayamkulam to the north and the Arabian Sea to the west.
This town is home to important educational places. These include the College of Engineering Karunagappally. There is also a Government Arts & Science College here. It is part of the University of Kerala. The famous Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham University also has a campus in Karunagappally.

History of Karunagappally
Karunagappally has a long history. It was once an important Buddhist site. A Buddhist monk named Karinagan lived here. He was also known as Pallikkal Puthran. This is because Karunagappally is located near the Pallikkal river. Many old Buddhist items have been found in the area. A statue of Karinagan was once in front of the Mahadevar temple. Now, it is kept at the Krishnapuram Palace in Kayamkulam.
