Katherine Lee (born September 14, 1981) is an American cookbook author, TV food critic, chef, and novelist. She was born in West Virginia. Katie has worked in many restaurants and published several cookbooks.
She has also written for magazines and appeared on TV shows. Katie was a judge on Iron Chef America in 2007. Today, she is a co-host of Food Network's talk show The Kitchen. She also hosts Beach Bites with Katie Lee on the Cooking Channel.

Early Life and Education
Katie Lee grew up in Milton, West Virginia. She went to Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. There, she studied journalism and food science. She graduated from college in 2003.
During her time at university, she spent a semester in Florence, Italy. She studied at The British Institute there.
Katie Lee's Career in Food
Katie Lee has worked in many restaurants. She also worked in stores that sell special food and wine. In 2003, she helped open Jeff and Eddy's Restaurant. She was in charge of preparing fish there.
In 2005, Katie started a food website called OliveAndPeach.com. She created it with her friend Aleishall Girard. The website stopped updating in 2006.
TV Shows and Cookbooks
In 2006, Katie hosted the first season of Bravo's cooking show Top Chef. Later, she came back as a guest judge on Top Chef All Stars in 2010.
Katie Lee has written two cookbooks. Her first book, The Comfort Table, came out in 2008. Her second cookbook, The Comfort Table: Recipes for Everyday Occasions, was released in 2009.
In 2011, Katie published her first novel, Groundswell. The book is about a woman who finds healing through surfing after a difficult time.

Katie Lee met musician Billy Joel in New York City. They started dating and got married on October 2, 2004. Billy Joel's daughter, Alexa Ray Joel, was the maid of honor at their wedding.
After almost five years, Katie and Billy separated in June 2009.
On March 22, 2018, Katie got engaged to television producer Ryan Biegel in Paris. They later welcomed their first child, a daughter, on September 2, 2020.
