John Albert "Kayo" Dottley (born August 25, 1928 – died November 17, 2018) was an amazing American football player. He was a fullback who played in the National Football League (NFL). Dottley played for the Chicago Bears.

Kayo Dottley's Football Journey

High School and College Star

John Dottley started his football journey in McGehee, Arkansas, where he played high school football. He was a very talented player even then.

Later, he went to the University of Mississippi, often called "Ole Miss." There, he became a college football legend. Dottley was the first running back in Ole Miss history to run for over 1,000 yards in two years in a row (1949 and 1950).

Setting Records at Ole Miss

In 1949, he set an incredible record by rushing for 1,312 yards in a single season. This showed how powerful and fast he was on the field. His skills made him a top player in college football.

Playing in the NFL

After his great college career, Dottley joined the Chicago Bears in the NFL. He played for them from 1951 to 1953. He was known for being a very tough player.

A Tough Player

Another famous football player, Art Donovan, once said that Dottley was incredibly strong. He said that Dottley made it hard for other players to tackle him. This shows how much respect other players had for his playing style.
