Cornelia "Kea" Tiedemann-Bouman (born November 23, 1903 – died November 17, 1998) was a famous tennis player from the Netherlands. She made history by winning the singles title at the 1927 French Championships. This tournament is now known as the French Open.
Kea Bouman beat Irene Bowder Peacock from South Africa in the final match. She was the first, and so far, the only Dutch woman to win a major tennis title called a Grand Slam in singles.

Early Life and National Success
Kea Bouman was born in Almelo, a town in the Netherlands. She was a very talented tennis player from a young age.
She won the Dutch national tennis championship four times in a row. These wins were in 1923, 1924, 1925, and 1926.
Olympic Medal Winner
Kea Bouman was also a pioneer in Dutch sports. She was the first Dutch female athlete to win an Olympic medal in any sport.
This happened at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris. She teamed up with Hendrik Timmer in mixed doubles. Together, they won a bronze medal for their country.
More Tennis Achievements
In October 1927, Kea Bouman won another important tournament. This was the first ever Pacific Southwest Tennis Championship. She defeated Molla Mallory in a tough three-set final.
Two years later, in 1929, Kea Bouman achieved another Grand Slam victory. She partnered with Lilí Álvarez from Spain. They won the women's doubles title at the French Championships.

Experts in tennis also recognized her talent. A. Wallis Myers, a well-known sports writer, ranked her among the top 10 players in the world. She reached her highest ranking of world number 8 in 1928.
Beyond Tennis
Kea Bouman was not just great at tennis. She was also successful in other sports. She became the Dutch national champion in golf.
She also played for the national field hockey team. This shows she was a very versatile athlete.
Later Life
On January 27, 1931, Kea Bouman married Wilhelm Tiedemann. Soon after, they moved to the Dutch East Indies. They lived there for nine years.
Her husband worked as a geologist there. Kea Bouman also lived in the United States for some time. She passed away in Delden, Netherlands, on November 17, 1998.
