What's in a Name? The Story of Keezhuvaipur
Keezhuvaipur is about 7 kilometers away from another place called Vaipur. Both villages are located along the Manimala River. In olden times, Vaipur was a very famous trading spot.
The word Keezh means 'below'. Keezhuvaipur was also important for trade because it had a small port. Goods were brought here by the Manimala River, especially from bigger towns like Changanassery. People would "keep" items down on the ground at this port. So, the name Keezhuvaipur means "below Vaipur" or "where items are kept down."
Where is Keezhuvaipur?
