Time with the Pittsburgh Steelers
The Pittsburgh Steelers picked Keion Adams in the seventh round of the 2017 NFL draft. He was the 248th player chosen overall. This was a special moment for Western Michigan University, as three of their players were drafted that year, setting a new school record.
In May 2017, Keion signed a four-year contract with the Steelers. However, he faced a challenge early on. He had a shoulder injury and was placed on injured reserve in August 2017. This meant he couldn't play for a while.
After recovering, Keion was waived by the Steelers in September 2018. He then joined their practice squad. A practice squad allows players to train with the team and be ready if needed. He signed a reserve/future contract in January 2019 but was released by the Steelers in May 2019.
Playing for the New York Giants
In June 2019, Keion Adams signed with the New York Giants. Unfortunately, he was waived due to an injury in August 2019. He was later released from their injured reserve list in October 2019.
Adventures in the Canadian Football League
Keion then moved to play in the Canadian Football League (CFL). This league is similar to the NFL but has some different rules.
With the Saskatchewan Roughriders
Keion signed with the Saskatchewan Roughriders in December 2020. He played for them during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In 16 games, he made 27 tackles and had four sacks. A sack is when a defensive player tackles the opposing team's quarterback behind the line of scrimmage. He was later moved to the practice roster and then released in September 2022.
Joining the Winnipeg Blue Bombers
