Keith Armstrong (born December 15, 1963) is a well-known American football coach. He worked as the special teams coordinator for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the National Football League (NFL) from 2019 to 2023. Armstrong has coached professional football for more than twenty years. Before becoming a coach, he played college football at Temple University.

Keith Armstrong's Coaching Career

Keith Armstrong has a long and successful career in football coaching. He started coaching in college before moving to the NFL.

Early Coaching Days

Armstrong began his coaching journey at his old college, Temple, in 1987 as a graduate assistant. He then coached at other colleges like Miami (FL), Akron, Oklahoma State, and Notre Dame. He coached different positions, including special teams, defensive backs, wide receivers, and linebackers.

Joining the NFL

In 1994, Armstrong joined the Atlanta Falcons as a safeties coach. He later became their secondary coach. After that, he worked for the Chicago Bears from 1997 to 2000 as their special teams coordinator. He then moved to the Miami Dolphins, where he was also the special teams coordinator from 2001 to 2007.

Return to the Falcons and Buccaneers

Armstrong returned to the Atlanta Falcons in 2008, again as the special teams coordinator. He stayed with them until 2018. During the 2016 season, Armstrong and the Falcons made it to Super Bowl LI. They played against the New England Patriots but lost in overtime with a score of 34–28.

On January 9, 2019, Armstrong joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers as their special teams coordinator. He reunited with Bruce Arians, who was his head coach at Temple when Armstrong first started coaching. Armstrong achieved a major career highlight when the Buccaneers won Super Bowl LV in 2021, earning him his first Super Bowl title. He retired from coaching after the Buccaneers' 2023 season.

Personal Life

Keith Armstrong grew up in Levittown, Pennsylvania. He played high school football at Bishop Egan High School in Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania. Keith is married to Kathleen, and they have two daughters named Kaitlin and Kristen.
