Kempton is a small town in Jefferson Township, Tipton County, in the U.S. state of Indiana. It is part of the larger Kokomo area. In 2020, about 288 people lived there.

A Look Back at Kempton's History
Kempton was started in 1875. This was the same year a railroad called the Lake Erie and Western Railroad was finished. The land where Kempton now stands used to belong to a person named David Kemp. The town was named after him!
The very first house in Kempton was built by Henry Hays. He also ran a small grocery store from his home. In that first year, Kempton also had a post office, another store, a blacksmith shop, and a mill.
Growth and Industry in Kempton
A Methodist Episcopal Church was built in Kempton in 1902. By 1914, the town had grown to about 700 people. It had a bank, a newspaper, and three churches.
The most important business in Kempton was making tiles. The Kempton Tile Factory was a big part of the town's economy. There was also a canning factory and a milling company. The Kempton post office has been open since 1876.
