Kenneth John Shellito (born April 18, 1940 – died October 31, 2018) was an English footballer and manager. He was famous for playing as a full-back for Chelsea from 1959 to 1965. Later, he also became the manager of the same club from 1977 to 1978.
After his time at Chelsea, Ken Shellito worked as a coach for the Asian Football Confederation. This organization helps develop football across Asia. He lived in Kuala Lumpur for a while. In his later years, he became a permanent resident in Inanam, Sabah, which is in Malaysia.

Ken Shellito's Football Career
Playing for Chelsea
Ken Shellito spent his entire playing career at Chelsea. He joined the club from their youth team, Chelsea Juniors, when he was 17 years old. Two years later, he made his first professional game against Nottingham Forest.
In the early 1960s, Ken was an important part of the Chelsea team. He played as an attacking full-back. This means he helped defend but also moved forward to help score goals. He helped Chelsea get promoted from the Second Division in the 1962–63 season. This meant they moved up to a higher league.
Sadly, just as the team started to do very well, Ken suffered a serious knee injury. He tried many times to come back and play again. However, his injury was too severe, and he had to stop playing football earlier than he wanted.
Playing for England
Ken Shellito also had the honor of playing for his country. He made one appearance for the England team. This game was against Czechoslovakia in 1963.
Ken Shellito's Managerial Career
Managing Chelsea
After he stopped playing, Ken Shellito stayed with Chelsea. He joined the club's coaching staff. In 1968, he became the head of Chelsea's youth academy. This meant he helped train young players.
In the summer of 1977, Ken was chosen to be the manager of Chelsea. He took over from his former teammate, Eddie McCreadie. In the 1977–78 season, he managed to keep Chelsea in the top league, the First Division.
A big moment during his time as manager was a surprising 4–2 win. Chelsea beat Liverpool in the FA Cup. At that time, Liverpool was the champion of Europe. Ken left Chelsea less than a year later. The team was struggling and was at the bottom of the First Division.
Managing Other Clubs
After leaving Chelsea, Ken Shellito also managed Cambridge United. Later, he moved to Malaysia and became a football coach there. He shared his knowledge and experience with players in Malaysia.
Ken Shellito's Family Life
Ken Shellito was married to Jeany Dison, who was from Sabah, Malaysia. They had two daughters together. One of his daughters was from his previous marriage in England.
Later Life and Passing
In late 2018, Ken Shellito became unwell. He was admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia. He was treated for some health issues.
Ken was discharged from the hospital on October 30. He passed away at his home in Kampung Minintod, Inanam, on October 31, 2018.
