Discovering Kenton Valley
Kenton Valley is known for its beautiful farms. You'll find many cherry and strawberry farms here, growing delicious fruit. There's also a golf course where people can enjoy a game.
Life in the Valley
Not many people live directly in Kenton Valley. It's a very spread-out area, meaning it's "sparsely populated." Because of this, residents often go to nearby Gumeracha. They rely on Gumeracha for things like schools, shops, and other services they need.
A Glimpse into History
Kenton Valley has an interesting past. The area where the town grew was originally a piece of land owned by the South Australian Company. This company played a big role in the early days of South Australia.
How Kenton Valley Got Its Name
The first person to manage the land for the South Australian Company was William Beavis Randell. He built a home there and called it Kenton Park. He named it after his own hometown, Kenton, which is in Devon, England. This is how the name "Kenton Valley" came to be!
Past Services in the Valley
Even though it's a quiet place now, Kenton Valley once had its own services. A post office operated in the valley for many years, from 1873 until 1973. There was also a school for local children, which was open from 1904 to 1943.
