Kerkhoven is a city in Swift County, Minnesota, United States. It is located about 100 kilometers (62 miles) west of the big cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. You can find it along U.S. Route 12. In 2020, about 805 people lived in Kerkhoven.

Kerkhoven was first planned out in 1870. This means its streets and building lots were officially mapped. The city was named after a person who helped promote the railroad.

A post office has been open in Kerkhoven since 1871. The city officially became a city in 1881. The name "Kerkhoven" comes from Dutch words meaning "church cemeteries." It was named after a company from Holland called Kerkhoven and Co. This company bought special bonds in 1864 to help fund the St. Paul & Pacific Railroad.

Kerkhoven is home to the Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Junior Senior High School. The current school building was built in 1994 and opened for students in the 1994-1995 school year. It replaced an older building from 1904.

The high school sports teams are known as the Kerkhoven-Murdock-Sunburg Fighting Saints. They have achieved success in sports. For example, they won the 2008 Minnesota High School Football Class A Championship. They also became the 2009 Minnesota Class A Wrestling Champions.
