Kevin Ceccon's Racing Journey
Starting in Karting
Before racing bigger cars, Kevin spent a long time in karting. This is where young drivers learn the basics of racing. In 2005, he finished fifth in a big karting competition called the Copa Campeones Trophy Junior. The next year, he was fourth in the Italian Open Masters. In 2008, he won the Italian Open Masters KF3 title. He also got on the podium (finished in the top three) in two other important karting events.
Moving to Formula Three
In 2009, Kevin made a big jump from karts to Formula Three cars. These are open-wheel cars, meaning the wheels are outside the main body. He raced in the European F3 Open Championship. After a slow start, he scored points in nine races. His best results were fourth-place finishes at Donington Park and Monza. He also raced in some Italian Formula Three events, finishing 14th overall.
Kevin continued in Formula Three in 2010. He improved a lot, finishing fourth in the championship. He earned six podium finishes, including his first win in the series at Barcelona.
Racing in GP2 Series
In 2011, Kevin got a chance to race in the GP2 Series. This series is a step below Formula One. He joined Scuderia Coloni for a few races. When he started, he became the youngest ever GP2 Series driver! He was almost a year younger than the previous record holder. After eight races, he decided to focus on another series called Auto GP, where he was doing very well.
Winning in Auto GP
For the 2011 season, Kevin joined the Auto GP championship with Ombra Racing. He also competed in a special "Under 21 Trophy" for young drivers, which he won. This win also gave him a chance to test a GP2 Series car. Kevin ended up winning the overall Auto GP championship that year! It was a great achievement.
Competing in GP3 Series
In 2012, Kevin moved to the GP3 Series. He raced for Ocean Racing Technology. He continued to show his skills, scoring points and even getting a podium finish. In 2015, racing for Arden International, he won two races in the GP3 Series.
Testing a Formula One Car
In November 2011, Kevin had an amazing opportunity. He got to test a Formula One car for the Toro Rosso team. This test happened in Abu Dhabi. He drove on the second day of the test and showed good speed. This was a big moment for him, as Formula One is the highest level of racing.
